Well I did know it wasn't a 175 Jawa and thought Panonia then sussed it but be warned be careful where you get you pictures from!!! Because I click on the picture to enlarge it and the name comes up

Despite now knowing I after Hampy's carb cover clue I thought perhaps Greeves, never mind the front fork problem . you can be led astray.

Many (if not all) of the bikes that have the concentric shafts can trace their design roots back to Hermann Weber's pre-war DKW RT125. As the Russians took the DKW factories back to the USSR (including the unfortunate Herr Weber, who died there in 1948) their two stroke motorcycles were mainly DKW derived & shared the concentric shafts. The other Allies shared the design (BSA Bantam, Harley Hummer (?)) as war reparations and others "borrowed" it (Yamaha, maybe WSK) and it's originators continued it's develeopment (the relocated DKW in West Germany & MZ in the original factory in East Germany) - it is, in it's many forms, the second most produced motorcycle after the Honda C series. One of the last derivatives (the Russina Minsk 125) seems to have gone out of production in the late '90s.

The Jawa/CZ single lever arrangment seems to have been a separate development rather than an a adaption of the DKW design. Not certain about Pannonia's roots, but they seem to have been "inspired" by German designs from what I have read.

Doesn't answer your question, though.

No, that answers my question very well! Sounds like there were two separate designs that combined the kickstart and gearshift, which makes sense.
