Pink hat and no gloves. Living with danger back then. Funny sound track with those 2 stroke engines sounding like 4 strokes.

I'm going to run a couple of these 'Women racer' Pathe films to be mischievous at our club Zoom meeting. They have gloriously sexist commentaries mentioning; weaker sex, knitting, housewife, cooking, petticoats etc. Should be huge fun as we have a couple of extreme egalitarian and 'liberated' women members.

OBM artical on Beryl Swain but never much said about Pat Wise who was racing for some time in the 350 & 500 class plus sidecar passenger to Eric Oliver.. And Marjorie Cottle famous trials rider dating way back and of course Beatrice Shilling who raced at Brookland and famous for her Shillings Orifice... Look it up.. She worked with my brother on guided missiles..

I believe a lot of those 500 class cars used the Manx Norton single cylinder engine.

And as shrewd Norton management would only sell complete bikes there was consequently a supply of 'empty' featherbed frames to build Tritons

He wanted a competitive British engine to put in his cars so Leo designed him an engine which was essentially four Manx Norton engines put together. Thus a 200bhp engine was directly available. In fact, the bore and stroke (86x86mm), cam profiles, head design and even four Amal GP carburettors were the same as the motorcycle engine but the engine was water cooled and mounted on, of all things, a Rolls Royce cylinder block.

Based on the Norton engine as it had proved reliable so valve angle and head shape plus simple OHC of the Norton..as far as I can gather
The V 16 was a different matter that worth listening to..

What happened to the company.
They came from nowhere, hit the headlines then they were gone.
Never to be heard of again, well till now.

Believe they said it revved like stink but had a very narrow power band, more suited to aircraft use.
