Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme
based on overall performance rather than engine capacity
1 maximum power to weight or 150kilowats per tonne
so a learner can ride any bike up to 650 cc
this is in Queensland I don't know if it is in other states. I wonder why so many youngsters are getting killed

I'd rather that my grandkids learn on a 1000cc motorcycle than learn how to ride a horse!

My son's learner bike was my 990cc 95 hp Guzzi Centauro, and he's just fine.

If they don't have enough sense to control their right hand, they're doomed on anything they ride.....!

I think we've got our capacity and power limits about right for learners.

My first job was with a bike shop & garage. I was taught by riders.
The only thing they never let me loose on was a Goldie, didn't bother me 'cos (at age 16) I considered them to be poseur bikes unless used for sporting events.

I learned on my Ariel Red Hunter by riding up and down our back dead-end street after my father rode it home from the shop. Nobody gave me any instructions except how to start it and change gears.
