I recall on this message board's predecessor that there were 7 or 8 persons (don't see 'em anymore -could be because of a variety of reasons) who seemed to have a fetish about Sundays. |
"I am arranging a ride-out/meeting/mass visit to a caff on Septobuary 8th..." You didn't have to look at a calender to find out what day of the week it was... it was always Sunday.
When one of these fine chaps/chapesses put out an "expression of interest" idea regarding meeting up at a certain war memorial on a future date to be specified, I was genuinely enthusiastic about attending but posted, "Can it take place on a Saturday rather than on a Sunday?"
Well, I suffered the wrath of more than 7 or 8 posters, I can tell you. "There's less traffic on Sundays." "Sunday is eveybody's day off work" (not necessarily true). "I've been on this message board since it began, Mr. Newcomer, and we always arrange ride-outs for Sundays." Even "I only ride on Sundays."
Under normal circumstances, on Sundays I'm recovering from a pub-induced hangover, returning shagged-out from a rally or (very occsaionally) working. It's not my favourite day.
Better than Monday, though...

mortal damage." (Alan Sillitoe.)
