It must be very difficult to second guess the way that conditions will change - given the rate that the guys who changed to wets made up the pit stop deficit, maybe they would have won had they pitted a lap earlier. And Binder probably worked out that with so few laps remaining, having left it later than the others to pit to change bikes, he would not have had time to make up the deficit so had nothing to loose by toughing it out on slicks. Braver man than me, though ! |
Can't say I noticed any mention in the miserable ITV4 "highlights" program of Vinales' not participating due to having been suspended (possibly for the rest of the season) by Yamaha for his alleged antics (attempting to blow up the engine by over-revving it - or "irregular riding" as Yamaha put it) in the previous Austrian race. And the announcement that he is going to Aprilia next year. Cal Crutchlow being mooted as a stand-in on Vinales' bike for the rest of the season according to some commentators.
