Good news

I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic a few years ago and had regular blood tests then had to have 4 tablets a day to keep it all stable. Blood test last week revealed i no longer have any indication of diabetes and no need for tablets. That does seem weird. I had given up biscuits and had a breakfast of steak and onions a few times a week and lost 2 stone. Possibly just the biscuit reduction improved it.

Great new Geoff I lost a stone during the lockdown as ordered food online and stopped the sticky buns etc...then unfortunately caught the b----y Sepsis and now lost another stone..due to muscle wastage ...But good news you will feel better for it..

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes some years ago now, then suddenly it went. I still have my yearly check and the eye test but all negative.Very strange, pleasing but still strange.

I thought it was permanent. Had the annual eye tests and no problems. I have no added sugar to anything and gave up quite a few sugary items. It was like an MOT pass when they rang me up.

I don't know what you guys measure blood glucose in (might be some poncy French units like you do distance and temperature

for all I know)

but when I weighed 20 stone, my A1C was 11.0 and my average blood glucose was 160 and I was considered a Type 2 Diabetic and went on Metformin (a glucophage), 2000 mg a day (come to think of it, milligrams are metric too so it's a mixed bad).

When I got down to 14 stone, my A1C was 5.1 and my average glucose was 90. If your glucose is 90 or under, and your A1C is under 5.6, you are considered normal and no longer have Type 2 Diabetes.

So it's generally under your control whether you have it or not, unlike the Type 1.
