Spirit of the 60's bike run

Its on this year after a 2 year break due to CV19.

Sunday 8th May leaving Yeovil Rugby ground at 09:30 - gates open at 08:00 stopping at Bicton Gardens probbaly from 11:30 onwards depending on how fast you go, and arriving back at Yeovil for 16:00, thats the schedule.

I'll be taking the H2 so better start saving for fuel, usually a good turnout around 100 - 150 bikes, but after a 2 year lay off who knows.

Geoff if you read this, might see you there again this year !

Hopefully I will be at the end of my drive might even park the Ariel up and wave & greet riders as sure you will pass through Woodbury to Bicton and you are welcome to stop to see TUD in the flesh..

If you can get to Bicton by car Dave, you get to see all the bikes and have one of Andys sandwiches. Some really nice bikes turn out for this run.

That's the one.

I think they have had to be pragmatic and let bikes from the 70's in.

Since I have been going many of the older bikes have dissapeared and there are a lot more 70s bikes these days.

Andy it's a something we can't change. The VMCC have had to let more modern bikes in. The Classic Racing Motorcycle Club was started to get all the old mainly British race bike back out on track.When it started their were lots of Manx Nortons AJS 7R's BSA's Triumph's etc. Now it could be called the Japanese classic racing club as the majority of race bikes are Jap. If clubs and club runs didn't change with the times it would all fall apart. A lot of the classic runs I do now have a lot of Jap bikes including mine. As for my race bikes I spent many years riding Ducati's but now I use a couple of Honda's and the main reason is I can do it a lot cheaper.

The Dartmoor run used to have an age limit on bikes taking part but that idea fell apart when brand new Hinckley Triumphs started arriving and the judges thought they were old and awarded prizes ! Generally, it has just turned into a motorbike ride now and everyone enjoys it. Still plenty of old British bikes to scare the sheep. It did get some Harley riders a few years ago and that produced a bit of fun when one went off the road. It still gets some Marshalls to guide it along. The British only club is a bit more strict but allows new British bikes and Enfields. Turns a blind eye to some of the elderly who can only ride the AJS 125 new bikes. These two runs are still good fun and cover 100 miles each.
