MOT fail

Hello, my 1995 Triumph Tiger failed it's MOT (ITV) because the exhausts are too loud ( they're not ) I need a workable "quietner" to the test centre and back ( 45 KMS ) any ideas?_

Yes, take it to another. Over here though, if you go to another and a pass is issued, they may come and inspect the bike as it was failed by the other garage. Expecting to hear it is quiet.

Are the silencer(s) CE stamped and unmodified?

This is your steamer, I presume?

Was the MOT test carried out in the UK? If not what decibel level is the legal limit where the bike was tested and what did it actually record?

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

I'm with Mike, if the exhaust silencer is standard and you know the level it can be expected to reach, find out what the level was when he failed it and if it is within expectations appeal the decision. He cannot fail it because it hurts his ears.

I take it this isn't in UK but Spain / Canary Islands? Has it passed the local regs previously? If so what has changed that it now fails? Can you undo any change to get it passed again? Would it help if you could prove its the OEM exhaust that complied with EU regs when new?

Failing all those I'd search Ebay for a cheap baffle to fit, There's plenty of sizes available. I'd go for the biggest that will fit on the assumption that bigger is quieter.

Don't put wire wool in it will catch fire best if possible remove and insert a mesh or perforated tube the internal diameter of the exhaust pipe and slip the silencer back on ..
