Electric cars

Why are manufacturers building 480 bhp twin motor cars like the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT being tested in the Daily Express today. Who needs all that power. The Mustang is stated to have a range of 310 miles. If the power was reduced to 120 bhp and only one motor the range could be 1240 miles! It would still give enough performance for most people.

Because they can (& sell them)?
Plus the same reason that many people want unnecessarily fast ICE cars (and guzzling 4 x 4's to take the kids to school)............vanity and bling.

Or Ducatti 996 (161mph) or any other fast bike. While there is a demand the manufacturers will satisfy it, simples innit.

Yea Porsche are the same my son has the new electric Porsche in motors on each wheel unbelievably fast acceleration and top speed at low settings estimated 300 miles but thats crawling so why pay all that money

An electric car would not allow me to drive up to the Midlands and back for 4pm. One day they will have range. I would need a guaranteed 400 mile a day range. Last years trip to Holy Island was about 300 miles. On arrival, there are no charging points anywhere in that area.

I saw the new electric Mustang all the TV ads make it look great in real life to my mind looked b----y awfull the only bit resembling a Mustage was the rear lights and logo..looked like a badly designed SUV..

It's just the name - bit like the "mini" which is now about the same size as an average family car.

The latest incarnation of the Mini seems to be the same size as a medium-sized SUV now.

That one is a bit low to the ground Stuart. Looks like they are improving the battery range though.
