The £10 gallon

So, would anyone like to speculate how long it will be before we see the £10 gallon of petrol?

I put £10 of E5 in the Him last evening, think the gallon came when the money meter was in the £8 region, at a quick glance I think had about 1 1/4 gallons for £10.

Seems like it goes up a couple of pence every few days and never goes back down.

There has to come a point where it is going to severley restrict how people use their cars / bikes, or is it all a plot to get us to move to EVs earlier than anyone wants to.

Who needs a signature anyway......

I got some petrol at 1.62 9 am Today and by 12.30, the price had gone to 1.65 at Tesco. Shell are very near 1.80 for petrol here..Diesel at about 1.85.
Shop early morning for petrol as it will cost more by the Evening.
MOT on the Rocket Today and the petrol in it was about 9 months old. Added 4 litres as it was low and the light on. Ran perfect with stale fuel with a drop of E10 to make sure it put the warning light out. Thunderbird MOT Monday with 6 month old fuel. Both are ready for some Summer rides.

It feels like Petrol companies are taking the P.

DId they not declare massive profits earlier this year, yet they keep putting up the prices.

What does Borris do?

Think the days of riding the H2 any distance are over, it costs me about £20 for one decent Saturday afternoon ride.

Perhaps it will be just once a month now.

£20 for an afternoon's pleasure and enjoyment is hardly excessive. Try watching pro football, playing Golf, a few drinks in the pub or any one of many "traditional" Saturday pastimes and see how far twenty quid goes.

Fair point - riding is one of the few pleasures I have these days given I dont go to the pub any more, and have not for ages.

Same as me don't do pubs and certainly not Football..I manage off a state pension so know what money means yes I also own everything except my new gas boiler that's on tick another year to go..

I’m much the same Andy. I reckon £20 covers my couple of hours bimble with a bap and coffee and relieves me from all the domestic and work carp that I have to put up with. I’d be lost without it.

According to Bank transactions I've paid about £125 this year for petrol in car and bikes. Car still at 3/4. Bikes? dunno not seen them for a few weeks now, think I may have drained them to car.

Lucky man Brian, 2 vans plus the car and bikes cost me around £700 a month for fuel.

News Today saying one in ten charging points are out of action and we won't be geared up for the change and more people disillusioned that with electric having to plan your route just in case
That will be no fun driving or riding..

My R111 takes 6 gallons to fill, however, its a bike for fun so cost is not considered.42 mpg is easy enough unless you go mad. I get about 50 mpg out of the 1700 which is also quite fair.
I am a miser with the car and try anything to get those magical mpg figures.

. It even has a coasting device which disengages the engine going downhill if you push the eco button on the screen.

I once fitted high-mileage tyres to the Ariel to get an extra 5 miles per gallon, a high-performance spark plug for an extra 10 MPG, super low-friction oil for an extra 10 MPG, low-friction petrol additive for an extra 20 MPG.
I had to go back to standard specs as after riding 10 miles the petrol tank overflowed.

Ariel last time I rode it was getting over 70mgp if you canned it drops to fifty the Pan about 50mpg normal use ..Ancient Volvo average on the computer readout 32 always the same.

In all the years that I have driven the highways I can't ever remember bothering to calculate the mpg and with all these metric thingies about these days I don't think I ever will. Does this make me a bad person, replies on the back of £5.00 notes would be acceptable.

I know more or less what mileage is in the tank because that thingy in the middle of my Fiesta' uncluttered dash tells me

The only sophisticated piece of equipment in my Nissan XTrail is a Sat-Nav which unfortunately works off a disc that hasn't been updated since 2007 so the only thing my car will tell me is how to drive into trouble quite quickly!

Den - I dont calculate MPG and KM/Litre means FA to me.

To find out the cost of a gallon I just see what the cost is when the pump reads 4.54 litres = a gallon.

Bad person no, just a pre decimal person, like me litres and Km dont mean anything to me, neither do metres - prefer feet and inches.......I could go on....

I am a bit technical, Dennis, and I know now, but my
gauge that I bought from my £3/10s a week apprenticeship pay (including Sat morning overtime) in the 60's only reads in psi.

All so clever but Wheel Diam sizes are still measured in inches I still use inches in anything I do making stuff..the only bit of tech on my ancient Volvo is a small readout that gives Time.Miles travelled, Miles to next fill up,all on a little screen thats controlled by knob. Oh it does switch of interior lights a minute after locking up..thats an old car..P reg.

Speaking of knobs, I've always preferred centimetres to inches myself as it makes things sound so much bigger.

My new little 125 Honda is currently averaging over 170mpg, and it's good fun to ride. It has to be the way forward!

You don't have to be crazy to post here, but it helps....
