Calipers on the front the most boring racing ever even in the island the only startling thing was the Kiedler with 11 gears to hear that leaving the line and going up through the gears..and no gear indicators then ...

Yes Dave I recall hearing that at a race at Brands,the race commentator remarking "(I think)" That's George Anderson on the new Kriedler,he should do well on that as soon as he learns to play it!the sound was as a very angry & loud bumblebee, quite spectacular to hear.

Great photo of the entire crank assembly in the palm of a hand 6 minutes in. Sort of thing you expect to see at a model engineering exhibition but Honda were doing it for real full scale.

Some of the riders looked pretty chunky. Maybe it looks that way as the bikes are so small, but you'd think they'd train 4 stone 12 year olds to ride them.

I do like that miniature engineering and am pretty sure I saw a 50cc 4 cyl crankshaft displayed at Sammy Miller's complete with four tiny pistons and carbs. Can't remember the manufacturer though.

If you watched the IOM program on ITV4 last night it was about female riders which featured Beryl Swain who rode a 50cc in the island just looking at the shots you could see how slow some bikes were..they thought the electric bike in later years would put off spectators in the island but it didn't not like 50cc which was scrapped throughout the racing Calender..
