That fizzuki

Bidding is over 1600 pounds now for a bike that will not be insurable. Maybe its for the shed and buried show to just ride around the farm man

Each to his own I guess.

The vendor does asy that on the v5 it is registered as gt200x5, but I think you would be taking a huge risk insuring it as a gt200x5 without declaring the "modifications" to your insurer.

As yoy say Geoff, probably un insurable.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Why are people so sure that this bike, which I rather like as it happens, is not insurable?

People building specials is not uncommon at all in the motorcycle world as we all know. Let's face it the fitting of a Vincent engine in a Featherbed frame from an old single is not rare. A friend of mine built two Norton singles into a V-Twin mounted it in a home mede frame and he has that insured. How do we think Alan Millyard copes. After all he once built a kawasake that was, as I recall, a 48 cylinder engine and he also fitted V-10 Dodge Viper engine into a frame of his own design. I am sure you can all think of Manx, G50 and 7R engined specials and I once met a gut who had a Yamaha OW01 racing engine in a road bike. As a final example have you all forgotten the 4 cylinder Bantam which uses many parts from a Suzuki.

Long live the special builders.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

My Ariel is definitely not standard a 54 frame with a 52 comp all alloy engine all the bits and bobs have been altered like mudguards headlight the tank original ..insured as a special and has been since I did it ..son had no trouble insuring a Skoda with a Fiat twin cam engine or a VW Beetle with a Rover V8.. there are companies out there for customisation no probs

Clearly there's enough specials existing and being built to indicate that "anything" is insurable, but finding that insurance company and getting a reasonable quote almost certainly puts many off the idea of building or owning one.
