A new dawn approaches

Not bike related, but definitely not Political

33yrs ago tomorrow I rolled up at the gates of the Police Training Centre at Medmenham and commenced a career that has been at times frustrating but mainly fulfilling.

I spent 14yrs as a dog handler and had some great times, I spent 6yrs on the Marine Unit where I obtained my RYA Coastal Skippers ticket and my Level 2 Powerboat ticket. I also rose to the 'dizzy' heights of Chief Inspector.

Due to my (recovering) Health issue I had to take Ill Health Retirement and as of 1500hrs today I join the ranks of people who can state retired after their name. Mixed feelings about this, but I'm sure once I get my bike licence back I'll fully buy into retirement life and will post photos of gloves on seats, coffee stops and holidays.

A few photos for any interested parties, including a family pic of me, my son and daughter who will keep my good* name going*

* or maybe not, my laptop isnt letting me upload pics

We retired in 2010 due to (my wife's) ill health.

Utterly brilliant so far, especially as she is still going well after all.

Thanks very much for the good wishes and kind words folks. The Drs reckon I'll have a good recovery and will be able to get my licence back, so lots of positives.

All going well, I should get it back around December time, so I can see me having my first winter ride in a long time, the day it arrives

Great photos there Jimmy and happy retirement.
I used to trailer my 16' boat up to Craobh Haven twice a year and fish the Gulf of Corryvwreckan and around Jura / Scarba , fantastic scenery and wildlife but that whirlpool and standing wave was a little scary. Did you ever witness it ?

No, not in person. My area was the lower Clyde down to Arran. There was much talk during my Coastal Skippers course about of a Nav Ex up there, but it never happened.
