Enforced layup....

I mentioned a few days back that I did not feel brilliant, well yesterday I honestly thought my time was up as I was having probs breathing - just a few steps and I was gasping, and when I tried to get my breath I could neither breathe in our out properly.

Lomg story short went to A&E, doc was all over me with a stethoscope, blood pressure then the spirometer test - you know how hard / fast can you blow, and then the nurse with the 12 lead ECG.

Bottom line is that Doc is sure I have a viral infection so I have to sit at home and take it easy for a few days and all should be well.

Ony issue was my BP which is too high, so have to see doc next week to discuss how it is going to be managed.

Glad to say that I feel a lot better today, so hopefully Docs diagnosis is right - oh and it is not CV19 by the way.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Well hope all gets better Andy my BP is always low and even lower now I'm on blood thinners so now have to wear Flight stockings to stop blood draining to my legs

Checked my BP this morning and it was way lower than at the weekend - so may be related to this virus.

I had a similar problem but had to stay in hospital 5 days. Could not breathe and it was pneumonia. High blood pressure is now controlled by tablets every day and they work well. No high blood pressure at the regular check ups. You may be given statins and aspirin. A lot of tablets to give protection against heart attack.
The Docs are very skilled these days on prevention techniques.
Take it easy Andy and then get going again in a week. The problems do come up as you age but plenty of NHS help comes along. If you can, think about less hours or retirement. Not easy if you really need to earn but if you can manage it and have any private pension, it is very nice to quit while you still have energy.

As one who is "at risk" I am very sorry to read this Andy.
Head down, feet up and get used to daytime TV, that will do the trick.

Do the trick? Yep, a diet of daytime telly will cure most illnesses quicker than medication.

FWIW whenever the docs don't know what is up with you they always say "probably a virus". Most of the time the human body fixes itself anyway. Keep warm and avoid breathing the cold damp air if you can.

Too true, been led on the couch all the afternoon, nice and warm under a duvet cover. Only just "surfaced" after a hard days rest.

Isn't it you who's been messing about with a zorst system and probably breathing fumes from the caustic soda solution?

Could be on it Sprids, my lung infection was just after i worked in a room with mould. Caustic soda may do some damage.

Get better soon Andy. Remember I once went to see my GP, when you were allowed to do that, with a stiff neck. GP insisted I have an ECG. then said she thought that I had a regurgitating aortic valve.

A couple of weeks later, the 16th December to be frecise, the great NHS mechanics removed the failed valve and fitted a new natural one, did a single bypass and now almost 9 years later I am still here.

I truly hope that you do not have to have such drastic surgery but, if you do have some, I am sure you will be in very safe hands, Rest and get better but beware of any setbacks. If you get any contact the medics IMMEDIATELY.

Stay safe and keep breathing.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.
