Rising costs

Im in the middle of getting my race bikes ready for this years race season. Bloody hell, so far I have bought the oil for the engine £60 for 4 litres and just got the oil for the forks £16 for 1 litre. Ordered tyres so waiting for another shock.Just hope my pension money will give me another good year on the tracks, but my bank balance is taking a hit big time. Still got the house bills to pay and eat!

Thats expensive oil Jerry. Sale on ebay for oil at 20% off Castrol racing 4T oil.
I have been buying German Mannol fully synthetic oil at a good price.

Just got my gas and electricity bill and it works out at 110 pounds a week for December. I can afford it but it must be hard for the ones on basic pensions or families.
My house runs all led lighting, all new appliances with a low consumption, extremely well insulated, i dont use the gas fire and control the boiler just by using the 1 hour boost.
They take 220 a month on direct debit so well covered for the years use and in credit by 700 pounds.
When i go abroad for 5 weeks in March, i will have saved a lot of energy and be able to book again.!

The much-vaunted J. D. Wetherspoon January sale hit my regular pub last night with a very decent 4.7% cask bitter from a local microbrewery @ 99p for a pint.

Oil a lot cheaper on eBay than buying it local. Just bought 5 litres of Comma 2 stroke oil for £25.99 DELIVERED Amazon have it a £31.50 and local outlets would be more.

For the first time in decades I only have one bike in use. I have noticed its cheaper with one......but less fun

Not going to sell anything just yet but will buy a new car later this year. Might be another Volvo. One bike might go to the boy

Im back up to 8 now Will, but I think I need to reduce this year. Trouble is it's knowing which ones to part with.

Stop paying by DD Bonny Geoff and have the money in your bank. These thieving suppliers must be holding (and getting interest on) billions of customers' money.
I'm with EDF for gas and electricity and they email me once a quarter to send my meter readings, then email a bill and I pay it online. They offer me a reduction if I pay by direct debit but the saving is less than I can get by having the money invested.

The upside of inflation is the increasing interest rates on savings which on just my cash ISAs are generating an extra £350 a month versus when inflation was virtually zero percent. Although it doesn't completely match the increased cost of living it does narrow the gap more than if I had given it to EDF.

I might do that Sprids. I have reduced what they take this month just waiting on this bill. If i stay that far ahead, a change is needed.
With interest rises, the premium bond wins should be a bit higher now. I managed 500 pound last year and that was the lowest prize money in 10 years. I have a few ISA accounts so i guess they are now paying a little more.

Agree with @spriddler, you're mad to leave that much with a gas/electricity supplier. We do the same as @spriddler - get email from supplier, email meter readings, supplier emails bill, we pay bill online.
