GP carb- Jerry F?

Afternoon BSA people 😀

I went to fire up my rebuilt/recommissioned DBD34 Goldie today. Petrol in the tank, tap on.

There was no positive action when I tried to tickle the carb so it wouldn’t flood. I dismantled the float chamber and this is what I find. It seems the GP carb has TT on the float. Is this correct? Same float as a TT carb? The main problem is that the tickler doesn’t reach the float 🤣

Looking in the handbook, the float and needle look correct and it looks like I either have the wrong tickler or someone has cut this one off at sometime. My tickler is level with the baffle plate whereas the drawing shows it 1/4” longer.

UPDATE: I’ve found a company online here in England that make the longer (33mm) tickler which apparently was only fitted to the TT and GP carbs with the high capacity remote float chamber.
Std tickler was 28mm long.

Brand new tickler, sleeve, spring and pin, CNC’d-£17 plus post.
I’ve ordered one. Happy chappy.

If you're carb is using a 302 chamber the tickler number is 302/10.

Pete which float chamber have you got? Amal say that the GP Carb can use the Type 510 Matchbox float chamber, or it can use the Type 302 Float chamber. The former is in fact so named as it is rectangular like a Matchbox, the latter is a more conventional round float chamber. Tickler kit for the Matchbox type is RK3GP/2 and for the Type 302 it is RKC/610.

Surrey Cycles and/or Amal are the people to talk to IMHO.

It’s the 302 remote chamber Mike.
Look at my pic and compare with handbook pic and you can see that mine has been fitted with the std short 28mm tickler when it should have the long 32.7mm tickler.
