Don't move Jerry

We have had two murders in Exeter within two weeks one in Sidwell Street and one in Ludwell Park yesterday..persons arrested came from Exmouth Geoffs territory

Just saw the police response at the park this Morning. 3 cars and a van. I wonder who it will be ?
My Grandson died in Exeter aged 29 on January 5th. Waiting on the coroner for cause of death. He was found on a bench near the Quay. He did have mental health problems and went to hospital on the day. After treatment, he died within 3 hours of discharge so the hospital has to be investigated. I think i know the problem and not a hospital at fault.
I would not go to Exeter at night as there have been quite a few murders just in the last 5 years including that young woman that was cut up and put in bins

Yea that was unavoidable she had been raped before and the police investigated then she went out after to be murdered a sad case..

74 year old woman and the suspect is 30. This was about 4pm in a busy public area. Be careful out walking.

Emigrate Jerry.....there less crime, less traffic, and better roads in Wales or Scotland, and you'll be closer to Pembrey or Knockhill

Mmmm ... while we've had almost no murders in the Highlands, currently exercising everyone here is the nine deaths on the A9 between Perth and Inverness in the last year alone. The SNP promised to have it dualled throughout by 2025; given they've managed to dual just two short sections in the past eight-and-a-half years, meeting the target seems about as likely as The Wee Krankie agreeing to stand for re-election ...

If one has the knowledge, one might wish to compare the lamentable state of the A9 with the M3/A303 between London and Exeter, not forgetting the high-quality roads built decades ago between Exeter and Plymouth, Torbay and north Devon ...

Also, you might be less than impressed that the paraffin pigeon is considered a viable transport mode between Scotland and London when VFR?

Can't speak for anyone else but, if I hadn't chosen Scotland, next choice would probably have been the Welsh border, south of Shrewsbury, north of Ross-On-Wye - many nice roads and pubs including westwards into mid-Wales, eastwards not far from the Black Country for getting bike stuff done.

Or, having seen Beezabryan's area, a little north of Derby/Nottingham, many nice roads and pubs northwards, not far southwards for getting bike stuff done.

Or a little north of Leeds/Bradford, again many nice roads and pubs northwards, not far southwards for getting bike stuff done.

Love the North York Moors area but, for me, like the West Country I lived in 'til 1978, nice to visit, wouldn't want to live there - most of the year, shit unchanging weather, boring as purgatory.

No one murdered me last night so thats a relief. Its very safe here if you keep away from the drug abusers and dont walk the streets all night. No police in our Town as they closed the station about 10 years ago. That solved any crime reporting as it would take days for police to arrive and give a crime number for the insurer. I doubt many even report minor crimes now due to the impersonal way of policing locally. Lovely day outside so opened up the greenhouse for the Cacti garden to get the wind and having some fillet steak for breakfast. Absolute bliss

I got to like it in possibly a strange way ... As a kid, I liked the Lone Pine series of books - basically not dissimilar to Blyton's Famous Five but I preferred the Lone Pine books. Most Lone Pine books are set in one of two areas - around Rye in East Sussex and the Long Mynd in Shropshire; I was familiar with the Rye area as a granny lived nearby, we'd visit her at least every summer, eventually my family moved to Rye itself in 1978. Once I could afford a large cc motorcycle thanks to my Merchant Navy career, which also gave me several months at a time paid a salary but not required to do any work ... Several years later, a girlfiend had parents who lived in Salop Newport, so not much diversion required to ride/drive through the Shrewsbury - Ross area between London and her parents or vice versa ...

Eastwood, Heanor, Ilkeston, Ripley? Who would want to go there?
As for Matlock & Bakewell, I avoid them with the Flash & a Box but if needs be I will filter through with the Enfield.
As I've not had the helmet & boots on since last Autumn it would be nice to be out anywhere on either machine, except the aforementioned of course.
The spirit is willing but the sad old carcase has it's problems.

Billy Bragg a not, IMHO, a very talented person. He lectures us on our need to adopt the socialist way. As a millionaire socialist living at somewhere exotic like Sandbanks in Dorset, to me is hardly a great example of socialism, and yet would have us believe that we should adopt the Cuban etc social/financial model.

Edit: Well capitalism rules even the most ardent of showbiz champagne/millionaire socialists. He actually lived in a mansion (the estate agents description, not mine, overlooking Chesil Beach in Dorset. He sold it last year and made a profit of £2.5 million. To add insult to injury he sold it to a banker...despite his own rantings and songs being totally anti-bankers. I guess making all that money justifies his hypocrisy. LOL.

Rant over is now over.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

I never saw it as denigrating his Country, more lamenting what the Country has turned into, very similar to what a lot of the auld guys on this board do on a daily basis, so posted it in response to oft asked question "What is going on in this Country?" just trying to show, whatever is going on, is nothing new
