Had one quote at over 400 pounds so far. Peter James is going to try a quote Today. The problem bike for them seems to be the 5 year old 1700 Triumph which is just a slow 100 bhp tourer.
The R111 is now a classic bike so only 76 pounds to insure. Still a bit of a minefield with just these 4 bikes and some companies really loading for the bike valued at 9000 pounds. I am looking for an annual mileage of 1000 mile per bike but i actually do less than 1500 on all four bikes per year in total now. I will announce PJs quote later

It is a minefield. I thought Lynbrooks would be good last year as I had a forthcoming change of bike due and Lynbrook don't charge for that. The cost went up a lot more than expected though and they wanted £440 this year.

I tried a couple for multibike policies but Nash said £389, Footman said minimum £338 before knowing about the bikes and Peter James said no because the new bike is higher value than the old bike. Bikesure said £280 the two.

I finished up insuring £9k of 7 month old BMW for £118 (No breakdown cover its under warranty) and £7k of Norton for £111 including breakdown. That could have been £73 with more limited recovery.

Biggest hassle was requoting after I'd used the NCD on the BMW then remembering which quote had what spec.

Well well. PJ could not insure my Thunderbird on a multibike policy so would only quote for 3 bikes.420 pounds. I can insure the lot at £400 using a company called RH insurance which has 4 and 5 star ratings and British call centres. So, how do some of you on here manage to get all bikes on one policy from PJ ?He told me it is not possible without taking another policy for the 5 year old which brings it up to about 600 pounds. This is for a total annual mileage of 1500.50 years no claims and clean licence with just one speeding fine in 51 years about 15 years ago.
I can get it for a lot less so going with a company Tomorrow or maybe just go on holiday and leave it all on locks in Fort Knox garage.

Pete, interesting you can only use the no claims on the one policy so that means my Thunderbird would be starting with none. As it covers just 400 miles a year, it might just go on sale. The R111 is going to one of the boys this year as his blew up. 2 old bikes is enough for a 70 year old to play with and i will just do a few more trips abroad . Devon is supposed to be the cheapest insurance area. Haha

Yes, that's normal in insurance and NCD is for 1 vehicle. Even on the old Lynbrook insurance statement for 2 bikes it says 10yr for the BMW and N/A for the Norton. Aslo the NCD eveportes after 2 years not insuring.

I did nearly get bitten a while back as I had a bike NCD, but I insured 2 classics and the policy didn't apply the NCD. Fortunatly as I was renewing
for the 2nd time I noticed I was about to lose the NCD so moved to another insurer to keep it active.

Things were so much easier in the old days with an NU rider policy - no need to say what bike, just that it was under 350cc or under 600cc

Definitely time to sell it, Geoff. Mind you, my last bike did 31 miles under me before it got the chop so there's still a target to beat!!

Pj man said it is not possible to insure the Thunderbird as it is too new but he will cover the much faster 2300 cc bike as a classic as its over 15 years old. He just said that a bike that new could not go on a classic policy. Jerry, i assume all your modern bikes are over 15 so all will be classic. However, i have one company who will insure all 4 at a reasonable price a bit higher than CN but its two fingers up to CN this year.

£103 covers the Enfiled, Flash & a BSA Winged Wheel I've not ridden in years.
For identical cover the frog broker posing as Carol Nash took me for three times that until I got sensible.

So, i can see that PJ can insure the old bikes but steers clear of the faster new bikes. I would also think accidents are very low for classic bikes. Try again with another classic bike insurer tomorrow then i run out of time before catching my ship. I wonder where they insure a 110,000 ton ship ? Using the P&O Ventura again for this float around. Maybe go to Albania and pick up some customers for the Exmouth hotels to feed.

For some reason that I cannot understand, I quite fancy one of them. But I'd need to put it in a tandem like the guy the year above me in school had done back in 1972 ... and he rode it to school too!

1963 plate on a 1954 vehicle???

The Winged Wheel was never painted green or any other colour than silver with the Winged Wheel badge painted white on black. Yes I do remebmer them coming into the bike shop where I had my first job, in a brown carboard box.
£25 and a few shillings & pence all ready for to be fitted to any gents or lady's bicycle. Just remove the back wheel & brake, and fit the WW. Fit fuel tank, mount the handle bar controls, secure cables to frame and job done.
Being designed and intended to be an add - on I would think BSA frames are a rarity, I certainly never saw any.

Here is my Winged Wheel fitted to a Raleigh cycle frame. Although I have not got round to re registering it I have the original log book and the number does belong to it.

It should be noted that add on and clip on driven cycles are registered on the Engine Number and not the bicycle frame number.

I did take it to a camp one long ago, illegaly of course, Tent strapped on tank and a few bits & pieces in a rucksack on my back. but really it is for another story.

A plate is an 'age related' number came along with a V5c when bought, presumably some previous owner did not get the wheel dated correctly.The green is the current owners choice. He has fully rebuilt the engine including some mods. The original needle roller bearings that ran on the crankshaft have been replaced with ball races, and a new piston cast and machined by owner fitted. The mudguards were new Indian Atlas ones bought off eBay, as these were already painted the owner decided to not repaint them. The whole bicycle was acquired as a basket case project. The engine runs like a well oiled sewing machine.

My insurance was a small private company Diamond Insurance taken over last year by a larger Co. The Ariel is agreed value the new company has agreed to everything and the price is a couple of quid cheaper ..I looked through all the paperwork checking everything and the insurers are in Gibraltar?..

Peter Best cannot insure me except on 4 separate policies which will be a huge cost,so going with RH insurance based in Wales and part of a much larger group. No charges for altering the policy during the term unlike CN who charge 35 pounds. I was stuck this year with the failure of CN to notice the Royal Mail strike and send documents by 2nd class letter and failing to phone or email. The World is going mad around here. Now my pond pump has broken so no filters for the small Koi things. I have to fix it or they die

Well, i did get insured by RH insurance who was able to insure the 4 bikes and not just saying i cant do it like the PJ and Peter Best. A little bit more expensive than CN but they became incompetent. See what happens next year
