Household specific contents insurance

Can anyone recommend a company to insure a few specific items? A couple of watches and paintings?
My ordinary household cover premium just gets silly if I try and include high value items. Many thanks.

It really depends what you mean by high value. The upper value limits set by many policies aren't really very high, just a grand or two per item.
If you need much higher values you will have to provide written valuations and get a policy negotiated by a broker ( = not an online comparison site!).
In my limited experience if you get a good broker its not difficult or expensive. My broker has arranged a suitable policy with Zurich.

I would not insure a wheel barrow if they used ZURICH as the underwriters !

We have always used T. H. Marsh. Good value and no excess charges if you have to claim. They specialise in jewellery and high end watches.

They have a website and will insist on a reputable jewellers valuation certificate and possibly photos.

Alternatively the usual comparison site suspects will also make offers for you.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

I gave up including specific stuff on household insurance my antique Clocks aren't worth a great deal as prices have dropped and I bought cheaply anyway my watches and jewellery and other small stuff are in a ruddy great fireproof safe bolted through the floor and wall and household insurance with the AA..When ihad my business the insurance was so high that on some work couldn't make the figures ballance especially transport costs..
