I think in his own way he was, albeit USA style.

After one tour he and the Crickets all bought new bikes in Dallas perhaps, with Buddy getting an Ariel 650 twin and the band all buying Triumphs. Cine film of them collecting them and at Buddys fathers house is on Youtube.

The BH Ariel is I believe now on display at the BH Museum in Lubbock.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

I like Buddy Holly's music but one song I cannot stand is that "when the music died". Once it gets in my head I cannot get rid of it for days. A couple bars is enough to drive me crazy.

He used to ride an Ariel Cyclone which is a tuned Huntmaster. It was finished in red, so yes he was a ton up boy.

It wound up being owned by Waylon Jennings. After his death the family auctioned it and many other things off. It sold for $450,000.
