Hepolite rings

Well, i tried putting them in the bore so i could then get the correct gap. The rings would not fit the bores at all and would need 7mm filing off every ring. That was the amount i had overlapping. Going to re-use the Harris rings as they are only 5000 miles use. The 750 kit has covered about 25,000 miles on standard bore and not showing any wear.
cleaned it all uyp and now re-assembling. Nice shiny black cylinders and cleaned out carbs.

7mm that is a lot, or did you mean 0.7mm?

No Andy, a full 7mm would need taking off the ends.

I am enjoying this engine work, for the last few weeks my hand tremors have almost stopped. I still keep dropping tools but have plenty on the bench !
I can work about 4 hours at the moment until fatigue sets in with the arthritis but at least i can stop and start whenever i like.
That roller starter is very good except it knocks out a 20 amp circuit breaker that supplies the garage so plugged it into the indoor circuits with a 32 amp breaker on. Other problem is the garage board has a 16 amp breaker. It has a 16 amp C form plug fitted but the current is much higher when the motor starts. There are high inrush breakers available when i get around to it. Used to be called class C but everything has changed since i last worked.

Very strange as the box is printed with the T140 fitment and 76mm diameter and the box was tape sealed.
Today i re-fitted the 5000 mile Harris rings and the cylinder is now back on the engine. Spent a bit of time accurately locating the tappet blocks in the cylinder. O looked back in my repair book and that 750 kit is 20 years old now with 25,000 miles covered. Bike now at 50,000 miles and the cams and followers still look very good.
