Jaguar

If you can believe the press reports, Jaguar is going to produce just a single car model very soon and its fully electric. Should be the end of the line if they do. I notice the Europeans continue to make diesels available and that will be the choice of the long distance driver for some time to come.
Police are buying a lot of Toyota hybrids for normal duties but will still run big cars for the chasing down.

I guess the only people they sell Jaguars to any more are people with lots of money, who want to be seen as "Green" and cool, and who have space for their own charging area. Not people who actually drive their cars for a purpose and need to get somewhere and back.

More that likley be some kind of massivley oversized 4X4 of sime kind that is too big for the UK roads.

Had one of those Land Rover Discoveries pull up behind me at a petrol station yesterday, the top of the bonnet is not far off the roof height of the VW Golf.

FFS no one needs something that big for driving around in.

I see that Ford are also making some stupidly oversized kind of pickup - seen a couple around here.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Funny that just read that the cars that spend more time in the dealers or garage for repairs are Jaguar and Land rovers the cars that need least repair are the cheap Japanese like Toyota and Datsun the other is Volvo Audi won't be making electric cars ?.

A confession... I have always wanted a V10 Dodge Ram truck, the one with the Didge Vioer engine. I drove one in the USA some years ago, now that was a fun drive.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

Even 'small' cars like Minis and Fiat 500's are getting substantially bigger. Most modern cars won't now fit in domestic garages so around here they are parked on the road.

Jaguar had been refunding a few buyers when they found that they were unable to charge up on long journeys and required tow ins.
Today at the car boot sale on Marsh Barton, another new car compound has opened to store these unsold cars outside away from buildings.
The Mini Countryman is built on the very large X1 platform.
I also notice that Fiat 500s, some are near 200bhp and 38 mpg if driven slowly.
I am waiting to see my youngest boys 6 litre car he just bought. V8 Corvetter engine fitted.
I certainly would not like any of these giant cars hitting me although the Toyota is good in a collision. I felt a lot safer in the Volvo XC40.
The Ram trucks in Florida are impressive beasts with the large twin rears fitted.

Or Supermarket or just about any other parking space.

I always have a smile to myself when I see a modern "mini" or fiat 500 - it's just a name used for marketing purposes.

In some way similar to what Triumphs are doing with their bikes, my Speedmaster is actually a Speedmaster Bonneville - far from it.......

There was a brand new VW full electric large van at the car boot sale. The owner had just bought it. Coming up from Cornwall, he says he has to find a charger before going back home. He also goes to Barnstaple and that has few chargers on route.
One day when the new power stations are built, they will work but i am waiting to see how the Toyota solid state battery comes along.
If a car could do over 450 miles in rain and night driving, i might have one. At the moment, 150 miles is possible. I can drive about 550 mile without refilling with petrol using fuel and battery power

Quite impractical and ridiculous. It's a remarkable government marketing achievement that any EV's are sold at all.
As for their desirability by the 'holier than thou' Brown bread and Sandals warriors, in 2023 the U.K. only produced 1.2% of global emissions anyway.

In Winter, the Volvo i tried out had just 60 miles range after a full charge. This was a £60,000 new one. I got in it ready to test and the instruments said it could not go very fast as batteries were too cold. I went back in the showroom and gave the keys back. Many dealers have been honest when i ask how far it will go with lights, heater, windscreen wipers on and most were under 100 miles.
If you do ever test drive an EV, turn on all the switches and watch the range dip to under 100 miles.

Our main car is a Kia Rio diesel. It has a three cylinder engine and gives around 55 mph around town and will give just under 70 mpg on a run so why would I want to change. It's fast enough and comfy. No way would I ever consider going electric. Oh and I forgot it's zero road tax.

Speedy little car. I have to keep mine at 25 mph so it runs on the electric motor around town. Makes a strange whirring sound to let pedestrians know i am just about to run them over.
