Another BSA

Now then Team, if I were to invest in another BSA 650 twin, should I go for a 1969 Firebird Scrambler or a nice mellow 1959 Golden Flash?

If I had room, I'd be tempted to buy both.

I've got a '69 FS and had a Golden Flash.

Both great bikes, ride em anywhere, so whichever one floats your boat today...

Get an A65, but perhaps a mellow variant...the A65T Thunderbolt of perhaps a 1967 to 1969 vintage. A truly great bike that is often not recognised as a fine riding machine.

I love the look of the Firebird but its quite a powerful unit a bit like my Spitfire version. Mine is very smooth running but a damn hard ride compared to the 1971 Triumph T120r
A10s are just a lovely smooth easy going bike

All of your logic is why I recommended a cooking A65 Thunderbolt.

Yes, for most leisure riders, a single carb Thunderbolt would be excellent.

I loved my Flash but its braking was purely decorative and it's vibes after 50mph helped the fuel consumption by keeping you below that. To use the centrestand it was best to roll the rear wheel onto a two inch block of wood first to avoid a pulled back muscle, or ten.

Both by A50s were immensely boring! And a bit plain.

Very pretty though: BSA certainly knew how to make a gorgeous timing case on both the B31/33 or A7/10. The unit twins don't have the same effect on the eye - well, not to me.

If that is how it was then somthing was seriously wrong however I will agree the centre stand.

Sorry, but personally I can't see any reason anyone would want to own any BSA, but that's just my opinion/prejudice based on the fact there's far better bikes available.

A big chunk of the fun for me is the fettling, rather the riding. I have modern bikes for riding.

Triumph, both ancient and modern.

Then here are Vncent and Velocette and many others depending on your taste.

Chaz I know where there is a immaculate totally restored Firebird for sale if you are serious. It has been restored to concourse condition and rides lovely.

The oldest rocker in town!
