New horns

The Toyota single horn was just the size of those fitted to Chinese scooters and i need a bit more noise to scare the birds on the Exeter Road as they eat the roadkill. A nice pair of Fiamm horns from a Jaguar XF arrived from ebay at under £10 so added a relay and additional fuse to power the new ones using the original wire to switch the relay.
Its a nice sound and not too loud so now i have to go out in the car looking for birds. Nothing changes does it.

Royal Enfield Bullets make enough noise, that even the rider gets a shock sometimes.

The use of these very small horns on new vehicles must be to do with noise pollution. They are very quiet hence i needed a bit more volume. The last car had a bit more sound to it and the Jaguar horns are just about right. Normally, i dont sound the horn for normal driving and no road rage, its just these birds on the road which fly up and hit the front of the car. Last one entered the front grill and left feathers all over the under bonnet area. A pigeon so quite large. Pheasants are the common one around here

You can buy really cheap but loud 12v horns on E-Bay I put a set on the last Enfield Bullet that I had.

Talking horns I must upgrade both the Himalayan and Spudmasher horns, both are very weedy.

Denali "sound bombs" seem pretty popular and are reasonably small, they are quite expensive though.

Who needs a signature anyway......

A few monthes ago I took my son's partner to heathrow
an early morning trip while going to pick her uo in Alton along a country road ,rounding a sweeping bendw two pidgeons were walking in the road,I was not traveling fast & they lazily rose into the air one made it the other struck my car, on ariving at their hone iIgot out to inspect the damage ,there was none fortunatley resumed the airport trip on my return called round to my pal's motorcycle yard where he runs his buisness from ,bumping into another mate doing the same thing we were having a chinwag setting the world to rights when he was distracted looking over my shoulde i turned to see what he was looking at which was the front of my car on investingating the bloody pidgeon had gone right through the grill and was trapped between it and the rad we lifted the bonnet dismantled part of the plastic cowl & it carmly flew away having had a lift from Alton via Heathrow to Farnborough with apparently no ill effects .Bet hes said to his mates you will never guess what just happened to me!!

Andy, i paid under £10 for the used Fiamm horns on ebay delivered. I did have a look at new ones but they looked low quality. I would guess Jaguar expected quality ones when they ordered.
Only thing to consider is these horns are high in wattage so adding a small relay takes the load off the horn switch and tiny wiring used in modern vehicles. The Jaguar horns also came with a large mounting bracket which the horns were fitted too.

The only time the hooters on my vehicles have ever been used is at the MOTs.

I normally have no need to sound a horn on any vehicle except on this long stretch where all the wild animals get squashed due to it being in open land area and large traffic flow. The roadkill attracts a lot of crows, magpies, gulls and pigeons so if i sound the horn, it saves the damage to the front of the car and radiator. In my careful driving, i have hit rabbits ,birds and a fox. They do a lot of damage. Brother hit a deer and caved in the bonnet, front wing and lights. There are a lot of wild animals here around the Woodbury area.

I have to use mine around here to get the f.....g lycra twats out of the middle of the road riding two or three abreast and I will also have a go at the other idiots that refuse to use the cycle lane. Rant over, I need a beer.
