When my (now late) wife & I were first together, before we got married, I was working away, returning at weekends if there was no overtime. I thought it would be a nice gesture to buy her flowers at the market outside the train station on the way back Friday night. Gave up, after it was assumed I must have been assuaging a guilty conscience.

My wife worked as a florist for a number of years, and told me never to buy her flowers. I didn't. Years later, now working as a trained nurse, she told her pals at a night out, "He never buys me flowers" Can't win!

Don't buy flowers from a petrol station = despite being displayed in a bucket of water they might be artificial!

And don't nick them from a cemetery = they might have a "sincerest condolences" card in them!

No, pure hearsay, pure hearsay.
Personally if necessary I just order a bouquet by phone & get it delivered.
Works a treat and I can't be blamed if they're the wrong colour, smell, shape, etc.
Best of all you can even blame the florist if they arrive a day late......like if you perhaps forgot a particularly significant date

Its always more fun to order flowers for your neighbor's husband and watch the sparks fly. Imagine the kicking he is getting

A couple of years ago a nice young lady over the road from me got stuck in her first floor flat when the lock jammed.
I cut the latchbolt off to let her get out, later that evening my wife was trying to work out why a young lady would be delivering flowers for me.

When I drove Taxis, I had two women, (this was years apart) asked me if would I climb into their flat to open the door from the inside as they had lost their key.
I climbed in through the small window above the door and let them in.
I was shocked by the state of their rooms; unmade bed, clothes all over the place.
In case anyone`s wondering, I only received many thanks.

That clothes all over the floor was from a taxi driver encounter an hour earlier Leon. She never had time to make the bed. Busy girl
