Nissan

Dealer just called and asked if i wanted a Nissan at the factory invoice price. Cars must be slow on sales at the moment with a couple of dealers now offering enormous discounts.
I think the economy is in for another bashing this year.
My holiday in January is almost half what i paid last year for the same 35 day trip.
The Iceland holiday was also roughly half the normal cost. Some great bargains if you have any money in suitcases under the bed.

I had the same offer today by text message, but after my experience with Nissan Exeter when I had a NV200 van from them I doubt I'll ever go for another Nissan.

My experience of a 2.5 petrol Nisan XTrail, owned from new for 18 years has been excellent, taking everything into account, better than a couple of new XJ6s, and a new BMW 3.5 6 series and several new Granadas etc.

My New Nissan did run very well until the satnav packed up then they were unable to repair it messing up the wiring during the repair. Then, car discharged the battery every night and they said they cannot find whats wrong. i called the RAC, they re[laced the battery and it was all go again.
Not a bad car but they were not able to repair it when needed.
Only car that was worse was a new BMW which also had electrical problems they could not repair and seat material fell apart at 12,000 miles. I did get new seats after going to another dealer.
Most of my new cars have been fault free but many have had faults that were beyond the dealers capability.
Toyota was in for service Today with no faults or issues at all.
AUDI and Toyota have offered massive discounts on EVs putting them at much lower price than petrol cars. However, i do want to drive places when cold, dark and raining and there is nothing that will do 360 miles in a day and be back home by 5pm. Off to Midlands on Saturday, about 280 miles and no need to visit for fuel.

The key to a trouble free car is to avoid the dealers if you can, when the XTrail went in for its first service the garage put a diesel additive in the fuel tank and it ran like an old nail until it was used up, I have since avoided dealers, and done the regular maintenance myself.

Hard to avoid dealers when buying new cars though and without dealer history, newish cars can be more difficult to sell.
I do buy new bikes from dealers and do my own servicing after the first one or there is no warranty.
I did fit better horns on the new Toyota as i doubt the dealer would fit Fiamm Jaguar horns for me

Horns are only to be used in an emergency here, not for tooting when leaving after visiting friends; otherwise, there is a much-moola fine.

Horns in Italy are very important at every junction and roundabout. Most have a shout attachment saying, Mama Mia, I need loud ones for wildlife scaring. On the way to a City this week, there were 1 deer, 1 fox and 1 badger, 2 rats and 1 squirrel squashed all within 1 mile of each other. No squat birds that earl in thew Morning but often the Magpies are eating the other dead roadkill. A lot of green land around here for wildlife

I too have Nissn X trail T spec circa 2005 wouldnt prart with it for the world excelent machine

I like the styling of some Nissan vehicles and tried a new qasqui out but it had no centre armrest on the new model. Someone thought it needed cup holders where the armrest goes and i dont drink liquids when driving. Previous one i had did have a centre armrest. The dealer, anxious to make a sale enquired if they had one as an extra but no.
New X trail is just too big for me now. I tried a Toyota Aygo this week and its a dreadful little car for noise. Suited for Town driving which is its design i suppose.
