Motorcyclist?

Comming back from Exmouth early this morning in a long string of traffic ..
A motorcycle pulled out in front of us couldn't make out what the bike was but sounded like a small four-stroke the rider was right foot and left flapping away at the levers like he was trying to change gear no change in the engine note
Looked like he was a duck furiously flapping his feet . Bike doing no more than 30mph then he finally pulled over... there were no L plates so assumed not learner..we had seen him on Monday same route but the bike but no feet flapping then he went down a side road... you do see funny things around here

no L plates so assumed not learner

It could mean no licence!

Its pretty common around here after they closed the local asylum. It is also a way to make the 50cc scooters go a little faster if you can push it along a bit. Watch out for the 80 year old lady with glasses that rides the yellow Honda Melody, she is almost blind so usually at 10 mph around town.

I have to agree Geoff in the waiting room at the Hospital a woman would say early fifties keptpopping her head around the door looking at me every couple of minutes I was the only one in the waiting room eventually she came in and sat opposite just fidgeting an watching me ...So I got called by the Doc. ..when I came out so did she showed Maz and told her then saw her later skipping along the road towards Tesco.. dressed in a jacket and brightly coloured skin tight leggins.. Mind you we do have a wierd lot in Woodbury..

Many years ago, we would regularly see a middle-aged woman in formal horse-riding wear - jodhurs, hacking jacket, helmet, boots, crop - pretending to be riding a horse at a canter -one arm out in front holding the imaginary reins, the other using the crop, along the pavement on the A25 outside Reigate.

There was a poor auld guy in the area I used to live. He would not walk on the pavement, but in the gutters. He would also stop at lights if they were red, and would stand twitching as if waiting to rush away at an amber light. First few times, I laughed, then just felt sorry for him. The locals called him the 'roadrunner' He was still at it when I moved out the area 3 or 4yrs later
More to be pitied than scorned as my auld maw used to say.

We used to have a local "old school" Asylum a few miles away, most weekends some of the occupants were allowed out in and around the Town.

They all seemed pretty harmless, but some of their behaviour could be a bit intimmidating.

The Asylum closed years ago and is now flats - sometimes wonder what hapenned to the occupants / patients.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Back in the mid 50's the air raid siren on the roof of the school opposite my house was used to call out the fire brigade. On a couple of occasions when it wailed I saw a chap who must've lived locally run along the pavement wearing a tin hat and a had a gas mask in its shoulder bag. I found it highly amusing but nowadays realise the terrible horrors experienced by soldiers who were subsequently left to bear the trauma without any mental health support.

A few years ago, there was an adult walking through town with a large cardboard box over his head with eye holes. It looked strange so i gave the police a call just for his welfare. The reply was he can wear a box if he wants too so they cannot turn up. i thought he might have needed help as he was having a mental issue.
