New bike

Just collected this 1973 Honda CB350.Nice and light and runs and ride lovely. Few things to do in the winter ie rebuild wheels with stainless spokes but apart from that not much else.

The oldest rocker in town!

They do have a nice front brake. I found my 360 to be much too light and felt i was on a very small bike. Wind would blow it all over the road so i was glad to get £300 for it. Unusual for 1975 that it had a 6 speed gearbox. It ran very well but given the poor ride, i never really wanted to ride it.
It was an orange colour when i got it but i painted it with a similar colour to yours. A Fiat Uno colour. The dealer who resold it claimed it as original paint but i had painted the whole bike and even the black striping was black spray. I must have done a good job on that one using a devilbis gun and a small compressor
To buy that £300 bike now as it was in show condition and a CL 360 with the upswept pipes, it would be about 4500 pounds.

That's lovely. I was always a Yamaha guy, and in 1973 I was piloting a new R5.

But two of my friends had new CB350s, one in exactly that color and one in red.

We never could decide which bike was fastest. It had more to do with the rider than the bike, I suspect. The Yamaha had the bigger numbers on paper.

Thanks for the sudden memory spike! Those were Happy Daze, 18 years old and indestructible...

Those Yamaha YR5s were extremely fast but really thirsty. It was unusual for its time being able to take off at warp speed as it hit 5000rpm. I was riding a gold and black one from 1971
350s were considered quite a big bike in the early 70s. I wanted a Honda 305 dream back then but way out of financial reach

Hi Jerry,

My learner bike was a '73 250K4 in purple. I wanted to put a Ray Fisher cafe-racer ally tank and seat on it; couldn't afford 'em at the time; last time I spoke with Ray, he said the tank buck was long-gone.

I used to lust after those in Elite in Garratt Lane. Of course couldn't afford one then, and when I could I bought a T140 instead which was a mistake but it taught me more about bikes than any Honda ever would.

Thought it was a US bike, due to the side reflectors. Very clean.
Find myself curiously fascinated by the carrier, reminds me of the 'Craven' ones I used to fit to all my bikes back then.
Went to price up racks for the Blackbird & ZX9, was shocked by the price nowadays.

The carrier is coming off. When I viewed the bike it also had a wicker basket on the back. Not the thing for a Wel'ard old rocker.

A gentleman would be sure to gave a wicker basket on his motorcycle. What Else would one expect him to have fitted fo carry his daily dozen bottles of Merlot?

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

Looks more like a Tower carrier to me - AFAIK Craven carriers were a different shape & usually black not chromed ?

I hope Jerry puts it on Ebay rather than binning it - period accessories are often not easy to find, particularly in good order.

I have a Craven carrier and topbox no attachments tough just home made ones for the Ariel

These bikes were sold in India and all of them had the rear carrier. It was useful to carry 2 children, the baby and a calor gas bottle.

Still funny seeing how many locals ride on a single bike out in Hispaniola. Most have a long calor bottle strapped sideways on the bike making it 5 foot wide

welcome to the world of middleweight hondas mate, one thing i always liked about the USA hondas was the shorter rear mudguard instead of the uk models which had really long rear guards. lovely bike mate.
