Porsche have pulled out of making electric cars as sales of electric vehicle have dropped dramatically

In this country, only Tesla will be left making EVs, since they can (all by themselves) supply the future market of about 3% of the cars on the road that EVs will represent.... Town commuters for the well-off ....

I suspect Musk saw that coming hence his very smart move of cosying up to Trump to dilute Trump's anti-China agenda which could make his business situation very difficult. He's very deeply enmeshed in China and a blockade or very harsh tariffs could cost him dear. As it is, with a bit of extreme risk taking, I suspect he will make an absolute killing - he's perhaps as naturally smart a business gambler as Trump is a naturally gifted politician.

American Porsche owners were sending the cars back as they had no usable range. They had also realised with battery pack at 50,000 dollars, the car had no value at 3 years old.
Musk is developing an aluminium instead of lithium battery but that may take a few years development.
Mercedes answer to electric car percentage is selling Chinese small cars from the Mercedes showroom as no one wants the Merc electric cars.
Most European makers continue with diesel cars as they have no requirement for Evs.
If we have to compromise, the hybrid works well and no limit to miles in a day or range anxiety.
In 2 years, i will find out how much a Toyota loses. It should be better than most as its the biggest seller and more economical than a Fiat 500 hybrid plus the lowest CO2 car for sale that uses petrol and battery.
Volvo petrol cars hold value best of all my cars in the past. Nissan lost most.

Jaguar have decided to build no cars at all for 12 months as they are stockpiled then only EV cars so they will be bankrupt in 3 years at most. Their new Jaguar logo and loss of the Jaguar growling badge and shape of the Jaguar has made them unrecognizable as a Jaguar.
When i was car shopping last year, i was being offered a 20,000 pound discount on Audi and large Toyota EV cars. Salesman told me thats the only way he can sell any so you get a giant 4 wheel drive EV for the price of a petrol Ford Focus.
Other problem is the insurance is double that for a petrol car

The way our country is going there won't be any car manufacturer left here once the government has taxed then out of business. We will have to buy our diesel and petrol cays from abroad then once that gets stopped the price of second hand diesel and petrol cars will rocket.

Be interesting to see what happens in 2035 when UK government ban all new petrol and diesel cars. Ok there will be lots of existing petrol and cars kept going until spares dry up, we could end up like Cuba. But I dont see the government sitting back and let this happen, they will continue to increase road tax on petrol and diesel cars, and by then most towns & city's will have a ULEZ system in place. So it will not be affordable to run a petrol or diesel car. Small Chinese built electric cars will sell and be used for short journeys, longer journeys will have to be made by train or bus. Be interesting to see what happens to motorcycles, as the government have not issued a date yet for new petrol powered bikes to be banned, but with little market for petrol or diesel sales filling stations will close (or change to electric charging) so it will be difficult to find petrol to run your bike. No doubt the price of petrol & diesel at the remaining petrol stations will rise dramatically and government will no doubt impose a far higher tax rate. The UK government has shot itself in the foot with this one.

EVs have the same issues now relative to petrol cars as they had in 1905.

As the artificially generated climate hysteria dies down to nothing as the globalists realize that they won't be able to get control that way, even hybrids will fade down to whatever their natural market level is. I'll never own one; why would I?

From what I gather the show rooms at Grahams place the electric cars have had no interest since they arrived still standing there. If you can afford a high performance car you wouldn't buy electric..

I'm at Buckfast Abbey this weekend, enjoying Advent and the monks' hospitality and beer - which is very good.

There are quite a few EVs parked in the car park with the new chargers. I've been careful to park my old charabanc well clear in case any explode in the night. One was making a weird zizzing noise all by itself!

Its interesting that the Fiat 500 electric sport versions are fitted with a loudspeaker in the spare tyre well to give the driver an idea he has an engine. This is a bit like on our bicycles in the 60s with a playing card held by a peg clacking on the spokes so we had an engine
