Come on now Jerry, you or i would never be able to get in that squat down car. Gulf colours are not too bad so i may do a Triumph tank in blue and orange

I would have a try but getting out might be more difficult. I have trouble getting out of a Ford Kuga. Funny how some cars are made now with high cills and low roofs then they put a damn steering wheel right where you need the room to get out

Well I'm Six Six with size 22 feet can get in the Skoda steering wheel fully adjustable and small diameter Low sill ( that's the first thing we looked at..there are things I don't like like the power supply that doesn't switch off NO spare wheel but that's sorted complete with tools and jack.

Like me Dave, you do have to check out cars before deciding which is why i have a 50 mile test drive or 2 hours whichever i want. Car dealers are mostly obliging except Renault and VW who for some reason, say that its not possible to have more than 30 minutes trial. I had a new Renault in 2005 but it leaked water through the roof, applied the braking when i went around sharp corners and then an indicator lamp failed requiring removal of front wheel and wheel arch and removing an access hatch to fit which takes about 90 minutes. AA man took about the same time in an independent test on replacing these lamps.
Skoda is really a VW and if you peel off the Skoda badge on the rocker cover, you will find VW underneath. The sticker is fitted at the Skoda factory after VW send the engines out. Badge is stuck using double sided tape.
Skoda make a very good sports version of the Octavia hence the police use it as a pursuit vehicle

Don't need to Geoff it's cast into the rocker cover three cylinder one litre turbocharged and averages 50 mpg that's all we need economy low tax and insurance....the Volvo goes tomorrow to Grahams to have it's MOT and rear ABS sensors replaced bodywork clean up...

That Skoda will certainly give good reliable service Dave. I need a bigger engine as i like to be more relaxed when i drive 400 miles in a day at times but in a few years, i would have a smaller engine.
Low insurance and tax is a great benefit of the small engine. My Brother has a Toyota Aygo for 10 years so far and very little has gone wrong. Just an LED side light failed at 3 years. 1 litre and also about 50 mpg and well equipped . In 2015, it was 8400 pounds brand new and it is used for longer trips as his 28 year old Alfa Romeo would be high risk now.
Next car change, i am going to try one of the mid size Mercedes coupes with 1,3 litre engine but still 160 bhp. Might be good and they do close to 50 mpg. Depends how they discount. The hybrid is excellent at the moment but expensive to buy compared with just a petrol engine. I await a shock at trade in time as i might lose 25k on it.
Volvo only lost 12k
