Hard starting a 2| stroke o/t

I nearly had a heart attack trying to start the McCullouch line trimmer; pull pull pull cough cough splutter. Finally, I found the primer bulb had a hole in it. $9.50 for a new one. In the good ole days, it would have cost about 50 Cents.
I blame Putin.

Leon - treat yourself (it is Christmas) to a new battery powered one.

Best thing I ever did after years of hassle from my old 2 stroke one.

One of the best uses for a battery !!

It did enter my thoughts, but it works well now so I`ll do something when it conks out next time.

The other Spring my 2T strimmer wouldn't start.
Fresh fuel, new plug, carb cleaner, squirt of lighter fuel in the plughole, even Easy Start.
Nada. Zip. SFA.
Took it apart, seemed clean/OK inside. Put it back together. Started first pull.

I find Makita is the way to go, they do a range of appliances with interchangeable batteries, they are not cheap but good quality.

Trouble is with the "one fits all" Is if you get a problem with the battery and find, like I did with G-Tech they have brought out a new line and discontinued the one you bought and no longer hold spares. I was stuck with £300 of gear and nobody could help, until someone on here ( Spiddler?) told me to purchase loose 1.5? or 1.2.? Volt batteries on eBay and build my own. Works well, thanks whoever you were.

Ryobi one and you can buy Lithium 18 volt 8ah pattern batteries at very low cost which will work for at least an hour. A one battery fits every tool they make. been using some of them for a long time and the batteries also last a long time without failing.

I had a sneaky feeling it was, my apologies Ian. That idea saved me a lot of money. It was bad enough that G-Tech couldn't help me but "as an act of good faith" they offered me a 10% discount on a similar package, I felt I should point out to them that I'd just seen an advert in the paper offering a 20% discount for the same package, so no thanks!

Mine is just a "cheapy" - about £35 quid "Titan" brand from Screwfix.

In it's 3rd year now, I just keep an eye on the battery charge, I do have a relative that works in Screwfix so I also get him to buy stuff for me as he gets a discount so it is probably nearer £50.

Who needs a signature anyway......

I don't know if my Stihl will start.
I've had no reason to try.
I have a simple solution to grass cutting.
Pay someone else to do it!

Well I suppose that does cut out the middle man but I'd still prefer to drink the whisky then piss on the lawn.

I have an electric leaf blower and an electric hedge trimmer. Those are just used for a minute or two around the house

Everything else around here is gasoline. Not enough "range" to do the chainsawing, tilling, weed-cutting, or plowing.
