Silencing improvements

Well, I grasped the loud, crackling nettle of the Ajay 18S exhaust yesterday and used my very amateur welding skills to cap the downpipe where it is inside the silencer and add 40x 6mm holes in the sides of said downpipe to match the surface area I had just covered in its open end. Took all afternoon as I am a bad welder with an old arc machine and working on 2mm plate and pipe in the open air (to evade chromium fumes) was a bit beyond my level. Still, I managed it and bunged in four Lidl stainless pot scourers to the silencer cavity for good measure. All reassembled and today I fired it up...

There might be slightly less of the sharp crackle but the difference is so minor I'm wondering if I am imagining it. It's still a lovely thing so I haven't started on the text of the advert yet...!

Oh well, I wasn't planning on doing anything else yesterday...

In happier news, I've found out my old tankbag and some excellent, fully waterproof throwovers that belonged to an old friend long since riding the heavenly highways. Potential for Welsh touring is looking hopeful.

Good practice Simon. My old G5 Matchless with standard silencer was exceptionally loud compared with other 250 and 350 bikes
