I grabbed my wallet by the horns and bought a new Makita DUR 189 from Mowerland for $349 AU.
They are very reasonable with their charges and have sometimes fixed the mower and trimmer(with minor problems) for nothing.

Trouble free mowing for a few years now Leon. I am glad my concrete does not grow.

Italians in Australia have concrete lawns painted or dyed Green.

What is a fashion here at the moment is fake grass even on new build houses. So many houses here that had grass front lawns are concreted for parking. My own lawn was being used as a cat toilet so concreted the area 35 years ago

concreting or tarmacing drives contributes to local flooding though! we had flooding in my area first time ever recently..and we've new neighbours who had their front garden tarmaced last week

We have four lawns and I can think of nothing worse than replacing it with concrete or plastic artificial grass. I have a nice man who trades as Just-A-Mow who cuts it and trims the edges every week. It drains well, never gets water logged and is much more attractive when combined with the flower borders. Long live grass in the garden.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

Yes, no doubt that concreting / tarmacking large areas contributes to flooding.

I like a bit of grass as well.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Yes nice to have a largest lawn to ride round on and teach the grandchildren to do the same, so much kinder than concrete if one of them happens to fall off, but the holly hedge was a bit painful when one of them embedded herself in it.

My place is built on what is known as the pebble bed this stretches way out to the sea below that is clay so my garden floods anyway in heavy rainfall They built houses just over from us I warned the developer at a village meeting he didn't know what he was building on wonted to put 25 houses originally now even the road gets flooded ..

Locally, they built an estate on farmland. The years after, all the rainwater that would have gone into fields was chanelled into a single road down the hill. Extensive flooding of the new houses. At the moment, anyone planning to pave the front gardens requires planning and details of the drain they will divert water into.
Another estate being built now, requires a massive walled lake area to catch any high water flow then release it slowly

Someone concreted there lawn and put a plinth in the middle of it a put his lawn mower on it after painting it gold. Perfect

I painted all the snails in my garden with red paint. When people asked why they are all red, i tell them so that i know which ones are mine
