Best anti fog spray

Just back from a nice December bike ride. Not too cold but bit foggy and damp. Had trouble today with my visor misting up I have used anti mist sprays in the past but never found one that works that well. Anyone used one that does the job they can recommend. I have tried the inner visor double skin things but they seem to cause more problems if mist gets behind them which I have had.

Always a hard one - have you tried a smear of washing up liquid on the inside? that is supposed to work.

I usually find cracking the visor open keeps most of the mist at bay, but can still be troublesome when stationary.

Who needs a signature anyway......

I've also experienced problems with Pinlock inserts but usually overcome them by adjusting the eccentric pins and/or bending the visor as flat as possible and letting the insert reseat itself. You can test if its "right" by feeling if there's any movement between insert's perimeter sealing strip and the visor.

But I expect you knew all that.....

Tried a few over the last coupla years of working nights...
Pinlock - great, BUT on my Caberg lid it got knocked loose by the sun visor control on the helmet when you opened the main visor. Also my visor stayed clear, but not my glasses...
Sprays; Tru Tension Anti fog 7/10
Muc Off Premium Anti fog 9/10
Both the above are supposed to be OK on specs as well, but not had much luck using them.
Visor exterior - Nik Wax rain repellent, Visor Proof.

Do what we do when snorkelling, spit on the glass and rub it around. Seems to work well. Lidl have anti fog spray in the middle aisle this week.

Never had much luck with spit/washing up liquid, another one I recall was rubbing a cut potato - no, didn't work.

Thanks all seems like we have all had the same problem. I'm ok with the visor a bit open but can get a bit uncomfortable when on a motorway in the winter.

When i had a pinlock system, i found that the screen suddenly uncoupled so threw it away. It was just useless despite being on a Schuberth C3 helmet costing 450 pounds. I use open helmets now with a very deep visor and good at most speeds. Behind the large screened bikes, no visor needed at all and no wind on my face

I have some military tactical goggles I used to wear with an open faced helmet. They are entirely double glazed from the factory.

Could helmet manufacturers follow suit and make their visors similarly double glazed?

I suspect it would be deemed too expensive to make them, and subsequently for users to buy replacements.

But maybe they be sold as "optional extra" premium helmets.

I used to have double glazed polycaronate goggles back in the 70s , the type that had a vertical crease in each lens. They worked very well until full face helmets came along and i bought a Nolan full face for longer distances

I clean the visor inside & out with isopropyl alcohol & then use a smear of washing up liquid inside & out & polish with kitchen paper towel (cheap version).
I use a thin cotton balaclava (inside out to stop seams digging in) or more often a neck tube worn that way. I never wear anything over my mouth and nose.
Helmet vents are all wide open & I keep the visor cracked open until I'm doing at least 50mph.
When it's very cold and the inside of the visor freezes, I stop for coffee!
Before I had full face helmets, I had a flip up visor and/or a clip on peak and turned my head sideways a little to divert the wind & rain, just like my Dad advised me to.
There are no solutions, only choices.

I have worn an open face helmet for years. The last FF was a Roof boxer with the flip up. The 1st thing I done was remove the chinguard.
Anyway older and maybe wiser, I was presented with a Bell Bullit FF from Santa. If the weather holds up (unlikely) I will be testing it out tomorrow.
