The USA are even more a nation of immigrants and mongrels than we are in UK.
I challenged a younger friend in Liverpool who went all ethnic and "traced her roots" back to Nigeria, via Barbados. She was demanding reparation for "her people".
I pointed out that her maternal granddad was a mate of mine 60+ years ago & his parents were Irish & Bajan, her paternal grand mother was from the Liverpool Chinese, living with a Jamaican sailor & her dad was Irish.
She couldn't answer when I asked who precisely were "her people", but said she had a nice 1 month holiday visiting the Caribbean & West Africa.

They do not seem to have any idea of how slavery was run. Tribal leaders/warlords would capture those from another tribe and sell them as slaves. It as common to sell to wealthy customers in the predominantly Arab nations of North Africa and the Middle East.

Then eventually, after many centuries to European and American traders. Skipping forward many centuries we have people of African heritage scattered throughout Europe, and the Americas and the Carribean. The vast majority of them now lead a life that their ancestors could never have imagined possible.. It is perhaps time to remind them of that, and if they are not satisfied simply offer them aconecwaynticketbtomthear country of origin...I bet nobody would accept that offer.

Should we perhaps now seek retribution from Italy following their uninvited Roman invasion in around 72AD.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.
