I have my Granddaughter at Uni in Stratford but lives in Hackney and I won't begin to tell you how much I worry for her safety every day. Just about sums up what a complete unsafe shithole our once great capital city has become.

3 years ago I had to spend a lot of time in London and it reinforced my opinion that now it is indeed a very unpleasant shithole. Above everything one of the most unpleasant changes is how society is now divided by social & financial chasms. The area where I used to live used to be a very mix population where everybody got along because no social group had a majority. Now the same place has become almost universally affluent white middle class and a rather unpleasant if upmarket ghetto. I bet they'd report you to the police for radical anti-social terrorism if you dared sully their street by parking a motorcycle there!

To be honest, there's a lot of rose tinted bollix talked about London. Most of my family back to Victorian times hailed from there.
I was at school there in the early '70's, & was more than once the victim of attempted mugging on my way to or from school. Luckily I could run faster in those days! The feral kids were white...

Brought up in West London my family from the east end and cockneys I worked in London most of my working life never any troubles I did employ a drug addiction he was bl--dy good at his work trouble was it took a few hours for him to sober up. The thing that made us move wast the battle between the west Indians and group from Southall .
Moved to Dartmoor Devonand lovely peaceful but now the population has gone right out and not mainly English.. and now we are getting stabbings regular down here like the rest of the Country..
