Rugby O/T

Settled down to watch Wales Vs France tonight, the game is ruined now by those annoying advertisements stenciled onto the playing area which are made to look 3D.

A couple of them you cant really see what is going on when the camera is panned out.

Add to that the continually flashing advertising hoardings around the edge it just ruins it for me.

Ah well stuff the viewers, it is all about advertising revenue.

Probably wont be watching any more of it.

Who needs a signature anyway......

If that annoys you don't go to a match. They have fireworks, loud & inappropriate rock music etc etc. Makes watching on TV relaxing in comparison.

Will I would never go to a match, but they now seemed to have managed to ruin the viewing experirnce by these blasted adverts.

On rare times that I watch football on TV I have ceased to be amazed that they allow people in with drums FFS imagine being next to one of those.

I think that a lot of this glitz / noise / hype has come from our American friends, darts has become ridiculous even snnoker are getting in on the act.

Simple solution for me, just dont watch it.

They kicked Pete Rose,one of the top 5 greatest baseball players of all time, out of baseball because they accused him of betting on games.

Now, every baseball game is covered with advertising for betting on line or in person on games. Used to be a clean sport; now just another wheeze.

I wonder if there is such a thing as a clean sport.

The unusual deaths of Bob Woolmer and Hanse Cronje made cricket seem quite alien. I watched it all my life from the days when players wore white with just the national emblem. Now they dress like baseball players and the actual playing part seems much less important - which does remind me of American Football.

I don't watch sport anymore except the odd bit of middle distance and cross country running. I'd much rather actually play it - the competitors you meet seem pleasant, kind and often very funny. I guess it's because they are normal rather than Alphas. I do recall fondly Colin Jackson and Jess Ennis-Hill - two lovely people who competed at the top of their respective games, many of our female middle distance runners come across as similarly nice people but they do seem a minority.

Pretty much all sports have become the same - a money making machine.

Makes me cringe when a Football Manager or Player is interviewed after a match, they stick that massive hoarding behind them covered in sponsors names, and the drinks bottles are carefully placed with the makers name pointing towards the camera.

Always think it would be amusing if someone carefully hid the word "Bollocks" in amongst all the names :-)

Times have changed when I was racing bikes I turned up for scrutinising before the race I had two big eyes sticker on my flyscreen that said zMoon Equipment. ( they made fuel tanks for dragsters a US company ) I wasn't allowed to race as it was advertising .. Yet we'll known racer John Cooper had the same sticker but larger on his Helmet became known as Mooneyes that really pissed me off

As you say Dave - times change, I had the old "Mooneyes" on one of my helmets many years ago.
