Hand guards on Himalayan

Fitted some handlebar guards to the Him during the week in an effort to keep the wind off my hands in the cold weather.

Well, they look a bit ungainly, but in conjunction with the heated grips, they seem to do the job.

Went out on my usual 40 miles or so yesterday, and my thumbs which usually tend to go a bit numb from the cold were fine, I could even turn the heated grips down another notch.

Only held on by one bolt per side so can easily be removed once the warmer weather gets here.

Who needs a signature anyway......

While handguards in general are not particularly pretty, I'll take function over looks any day.

The RE guards are reasonably stylish for such devices, have the advantage of being designed to fit around the screen at full lock and, as you say, are a doddle to fit. The pre-applied threadlocker really gets a good hold, as I found when I replaced an accident damaged one, so don't be suprised at the effort required to get the bolts out.

They also help deflect rain while moving & the pretty heftly diecast mount is an effective lever protector that meant mine was still rideable after last year's "off" - around half the thickness of the bracket was ground away from road contact & the bars substantially bent (very thin wall bars ! ), but the clutch lever was undamaged. So mine will be staying on all year round.

I will second that, but given how easy they are to remove (threadlocker permitting), they will be removed for the Spring / Summer season.

Who needs a signature anyway......
