Close call today

Just back from a nice 80 mile ride. Sun was the biggest problem so lucky I got the pull down dark visor working again inside my helmet. Had a very close call today when a pratt in a open back van decided he nearly missed his turn off at a rounder bout the turned left into me. Lucky I had time to go left with him. He did hit my bike but not being big headed but the only thing that kept me upright was many years of riding. Stopped to give him a right bollocking but realised I was talking to pikies so didn't want to get into too much of a confrontation. All I got was ,oy was indicating mate what do you intend to do about it. Not sure I wanted to take on three nasty looking guys so told him what a c...t he was and rode off. Just checked bike and lucky just got his paint on my silencer and it came off with T cut. Still not sure how I stayed upright but I guess with driving standards today we just have to be very careful when out enjoying something we love. May need to go for a pint.

I would have probably done the same.

Very true that you have to be so careful these days, arseholes around every corner.

Sadly true nowadays. Better to back off than get into any sort of confrontation.

Being honest I find it hard to back off, but backing off is probably the best way of handling these situations as you never know what they are likley to do, could well end up being stabbed these days.

Last year I worked hard at restraining myself, and only had one confrontation with a total tw*t but since that was in a busy high street I felt fairly safe.

Must try harder this year and keep 100% confrontation free.

At the end of the day confronting these sort of people achieves nothing - just watch some of the cop programmes, stopping repeat offenders seem commonplace.

Guess that your best approach is to always wear a camera and hand the footage over to the cops, if they can be bothered.

That's why I fited a camera on the bike sae with the car they back off wen you point it out..
Funny thing about cameras is the Skoda went back to the dealers as something wasn't right on the car they asked if I could disconnect the camera in the workshop this seems to be the norm.

To cover any such "events" I now have cameras fitted to both my bikes, front & back.
With a 256gb SD card they will "loop" record a full days ride before it starts to "overwrite".
Unfortunately (or fortunately) I have seen the benefits twice, so feel the expense was worth every penny.
Once a van pulled out in front of me and knocked me off, the second time the bike was knocked over on a filling station forecourt.
Both times the other party admitted liability immediately but if necessary I could have proved their culpability.

I'd be interested in recommendations for cameras, both for the bike and the car

Me too, ideally something that can be moved easily from one bike to another, but that might be a tall order.

Looks to be some helmet mounted ones that might fit the bill, but not really keen on hanging things of my helmet because if you are involved in an accident it could cause you more damage that if it want not there if you get my drift.

Glad you are OK mate, I think most of us have been there. I had a pr--t wipe me out on a roundabout a while ago, he indicated left too leave the roundabout, then continued on round taking me and Swmbo out.
There is a large multi lane roundabout on the A11/A47 junction, which I will not use when on a motorcycle, as there are regular prangs on it.

With Royal Enfields, they leave the bike and steal the camera.
