Got to the cat park and the car battery is flat. Opened a door with the key inside the fob to lift bonnet. So i want to use my engine starter and of course the battery is in the boot under the floor and the boot lid is locked. The board over the battery cannot be lifted unless the boot is open so completely useless mission. Lucky the car park crew have men who start cars and knowledge how to do it.
He connected a large battery into the fuse box under the bonnet and fired it up. The engine starter does not work that way as it puts charge into the battery so just will not work.
I intend to fit two jump leads to the battery now and have the ends inside the car above the boot board.
There were 5 Toyota hybrids with flat batteries within 15 metres of mine. The starter man says this affects every hybrid Toyota in the car park so it cannot be left 35 days.
What a crap design. Then, at home is a recall that the ECU controlling some of the skid control is faulty and needs replacing as the brakes may not work if used when cornering. Thats a few thousand of them being recalled and mine is one. Next week it gates booked in for the job
Great time again with 2 helicopter extractions and 5 taken off by ambulance.
Super ship powered by Natural gas so no engine noise of vibration. 220,000 tons and 22 knots but will go faster. No smoke and no smell.
This cabin was 6400 pounds for 35 days but the lower end cabins were 4200 and thats for 2 people. Cheaper than a UK hotel but also unlimited food and shows going on day and night. So many oldies finding it cheaper to go away for Winter than staying home in a cold house. This was IONA which is 5 year old and ultra modern and i would use it again . This year the price was nearly half the price of last years trip.

Cruise line has a "cat park"? I'm amazed ...

Many years ago, went skiing with kids, flew from Stanstead, used Meet & Greet to save hauling kids and luggage on and off buses to/from long-term car park.

This time when we got back, Meet & Greet driver who brought car to terminal said the battery had been flat (after a week), I think "Great ... just spent one fortune, now a new battery ... Bugger".

Anyroadup, kids 'n' luggage in the car, we're about to set off home, I'm wondering why the interior light's still on, I check all the doors, boot, bonnet, blah ... turned out swmbo had left the map-reading light on when we arrived, she'd been reading the directions to Meet & Greet. Drove home, battery fine the following morning and for a long time after. So pleased I didn't have to cough for a new battery, I didn't even yell (much) at swmbo ...

You’re a brave man Stuart. It takes years off my life with SWMBO map reading as she tends to use hand signals rather than words and often at the last minute at T junctions and turns when I’ve got an impatient motorist up my bum.

The electronics on modern cars have got completely out of hand our little skoda has four permutations on opening the door .. yet the cigarette lighter/power socket can't be turned off
Graham got a spare wheel with all the Skoda tools and jack needed instead of a can of foam and RAC fallout card..

Common. Wa-aa-ay more people plug satnavs and other gadget into the "cigarette lighter" socket than the actual lighter. Long journey, why would you want to reprogramme the satnav after every time you turned off the ignition switch?

Skoda already has Sat Nav I have the in car camera plugged into the outlet but obviously have to pull it out when in the garage wy do I have to program the car to do what my ancient Volvo did anyway thank goodness it has a proper handbrake not one tha blinds the person behind

Electronics have made cars harder to fathom out. All my socket outlets are off when the car is off. The battery going flat was just drain from the alarm. Battery is quite a small one. Obviously too small judging by all the Toyotas in the car park having the same problem.
The car park men are geared up for this Toyota problem with a van and large battery. A free service or they would have a car park full of AA and RAC vans. I would wonder what happens to a full EV car if the battery died. The rescue services do carry a large generator now to put 10 miles of charge in.
Been all good today and Bristol classic show at the weekend. 20 pound ticket now with Mortons at the helm. Next week down Cornwall as Uncle died last week in a care home. I was there just before Xmas with his Birthday cake for 83rd Birthday. He had dementia and breathing problems so not unexpected.

Agreed.

Some are live when the ignition is off, some are only live with ignition on (my Skoda had one of each in the boot) but both types only switch on when something is plugged into them.

Wait 'til it needs an update.

My Skoda also has a satnav but I found I couldn't trust it ... long story short, trip last summer I happened to be running it alongside a Garmin over familiar roads, the Skoda satnav was coming up with really weird routes (turn off motorway to parallel single-carriageway road to next motorway junction; turn off motorway to adjacent roundabout, go 'round roundabout, rejoin motorway; etc.). Familiar with route, easy to see the mistakes but means the Skoda satnav simply can't be trusted with an unfamiliar route.

Unless VAG are now using Google Maps (like e.g. Volvo), while they might've improved their satnav algorithms since my Skoda was new, your car's will still only take you to the middle of a postcode area.

They first did that on the old B58 "Hustler" nuclear bombers. They needed the crews to pay attention when they were being giving the "Go Codes" that would kick off Armageddon and the end of the world, so they had women with sexy voices on the annunciators.... Men, eh?
