Dashcams have got more sophisticated now some operate via your mobile phone Halfords do a selection at reasonable price but if they fit to the car they charge 100 quid as do garages the one I have in my car is old now but still great just plug into the cigarette lighter The one I had on the bike is a Victure like a small Go Pro simple to use runs off its own batteries and comes with loads of fittings that fit most bikes simple to operate ..at the time it cost about £35Tonupdave..T.U.D.
I have used dashcams for 10 years. The Garmin lasted 1 year, Nextbase lasted 4 years. I had used some low cost ones first. right now, i have bought one costing under £10 and it is just as good as the hundred pound items. There is no installation at all on dashcams. They have a cable that is in the box and it plugs into the cigar lighter. 5 minutes to just unpack and fit plus you need a small SD card for storage of about 32GB. Buke ones are often fitted to the crash helmet so no vibration and its on whichever bike you use. Good reason to have one is for these criminal groups who stage rear end shunts and those that deliberately reverse into you and claim you drove into them and then 4 claimants all have whiplash injuries. The small 10 pound units on ebay are fine but a nextbase one has an excellent field of view of 170 degrees . Cheap ones will be 140 degrees . These cameras are most often needed for car park hits where one driver blames the other. A camera will prove which car moved. Fitting involves a suction cup just pushed on the screen and plug it in. Any one charging 100 pound to fit for this will be driving a Ferrari as he would earn 5000 pound a day. Helmet cams are glued on with 3M adhesive pads. They break off if you fall off and the helmet hits the ground. Nextbase units have a fast SD card release so if its your fault you can eject the card and throw it away. One touch and it springs out.
