Boys car crash in Woodbury

8 Months ago, one Son hit 3 cars and the cars were pushed into house walls knocking some down. It appeared that all 3 cars were badly damaged as they all got removed by lorry that day. His Mercedes alloy bodied car was driving again in a few days work.
Now, 8 Months later, no action at all from police who took a blood sample and the 6 months they have to charge him are now gone by.
There has been no insurance claim from any of the 3 car owners and houses.
These cars were all parked half on the road and half on the pavement and all illegally parked opposite a hatched area in the middle of the road. He did have the accident when he glanced back at his 2 dogs in the back seat.
Strange times with no police contact or insurance at all.
I wonder with the insurers, that if they check his car, he is uninsured as he has a traders policy to drive all cars. Maybe they told the 3 owners it was an uninsured car ? boys insurer was told of the accident right away but since that time, they have received no claim at all.

Be careful what you post Geoff your first statement was you son was tired as he had a long drive .. I agree about the parking on that stretch of road I have notified the Police and local council and only last week I posted on the Woodbury FB site the cars are still parking that way the Yiguan was also parked the wrong way around facing traffic I had to walk in the road to go to the surgery That was the fourth accident since we have been here .. the wall has been re.built those cottages are listed and preservation ord on them ..Just imagine in a while they will be putting 75 houses opposite that site and already we have very large articulated lorries using that road plus double decker busses it is a 30 limit it should be 20

Dave, i guess the damaged Tiguan was repaired then if its back now. There was also a BMW and 1 other car.
What happened was he came back from Cornwall early in the Morning. Might have been tired but police have just not interviewed him at all. They arranged a Doctor for blood test and let him go.
He is pleased as he expected a fine for careless driving at least. I suppose if his blood test was positive, they may have acted.
This bump was in partial darkness and with illegal parked cars which may have contributed to the bump.
There was often speed cameras on that stretch but none i have seen lately. It was an easy catch with a 30mph limit on a downhill straight road and commuters would often be well over 40 mph

Interesting the 3 car owners are still illegally parked Dave. I suppose maybe their insurers might stop paying out for the damage caused to them by passing vehicles.
In my road with cars parked on pavements for its entire length, all the prams and mobility scooters use the middle of the road and cars have to wait until they cover the 100 yard road.
Of course, parking on the pavements has defeated all the access slopes put in for prams and scooters.
The speed cars come down this road is stupid with cars on both sides, someone will get run over soon.

The lady on the end nearest to Fulford way her car wasn't in that accident but she had had her car written of four times to my knowledge she gets it supplied by the NHS so it's virtually free she needs it for her husband..
The worst that I have seen and attended was a Plumber in a Transit typ van he plough int four cars destroying them all the van rolled nose over tail throwing the driver out I ended up halting the traffic Police arrived and ambulance they found his phone in the rubble checked it and he was on it at the time.. airlifted to hospital
New cars back a few months later

Quite a few new cars coming along then Dave. I just wonder what thew insurers say to paying out so much for the same 3 car owners. I certainly would park in a legal parking space after losing a few cars.
The boy did tell the police the cars were illegally parked so maybe it was dropped due to their own negligence.
Doing the repairs to the alloy Merc, the used spare body panels,bonnet, lights,grill,air bags,roll bar and ECU units to work all the air bags, steering wheel and suspension plus wheels were about 3.5K. The respray was done by Exeter college students for practice and free apart from buying paint. High end car so the students did a good job. None of the new panels were dented so no filler needed. Car looks new now
