Car buying

Been looking for a high performance car for a Grandson and found one in a local garage. looked at a receipt for a new timing belt fitted by another garage. Took a picture of it and sent to that garage who replied, they had not done any work and not one of their order numbers although their invoice had been copied. Its now up to the garage who have had receipts doctored to chase the sales garage. This could have resulted in a cam belt snapping on a very expensive engine hence it needed to be checked before purchase. Other cars to avoid are those fitted with a cam belt that runs in oil. They begin to break up and the rubber then goes into the oil pump. Well know problem with the small Ford engines now but those engines are used by other makes including Peugeot. Modern cars do seem to have many problems now. Still some sharks around in Devon.

My Ancient Volvo when brought by the new owner asked Graham to check car over and do any work needed so new Cambelt and waterpump checked everything else the guy said change the Alloy wheels instead of re-furbishing them? He was pleased that we had all documentation all service records .. tha car was a one off built to the first owners spec. The leather was still in mint condition .. We got a good price for it and gave Gray a grand for finding a proper buyer and dismissing the tyre kickers.Tonupdave..T.U.D.

Always worth checking MoT History on https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history Often you will find cars with multiple serious fails on a previous MoT only to find a 'clean sheet pass' on the current MoT. Its obvious from the amount of work and cost required that the test has been fiddled.
