Foreigner's

Giving the Skoda a Polish and check over checked the tyre pressures supposed to be 2 Bar all a little under so get the pump out it don't fit the tyre valvs are really small none of my pumps fit..

anyone come across this one?

Very strange indeed. Only smaller tyre valves than the standard car/bike Schrader's I've seen are on pushbikes, the Presta type.
There are two main types of bike tyre valves: Schrader and Presta. Schrader valves are similar to those found on car tyres, while Presta valves are thinner and have a threaded top that must be unscrewed before inflating. The valve type can typically be determined by looking at the valve stem, but it is always a good idea to double-check before inflating.

I havnt checked the electric pump that Graham got me with the spare wheel but showed him the valve and he was amazed had never seen them before

Those valves will be interesting if you try and find a pump at a local garage. I have only ever seen one type of valve on cars.
Why would they fit an exclusive tyre valve when the Skodas are really VW cars

My Skoda Kodiaq, along with every other car I have ever owned (including other Skodas) or had anything to do with, has Schrader valves.

I have encountered this problem with the 25-year-old Mazda 626; the air hose will not fit the tyre valve.

OK have to confess my brain doesn't work like normal the valves on the Skoda are standard just short in the Alloy wheel that has many spokes so there's not a lot of room to get a standard valve connector in ..I have now dug out an old Sutty foot pump that has a narrow valve connector which just fits....Good job I don't throw anything away

You can also get L shaped extenders for valves. I use them on the bikes with double front discs as it's a right fiddle getting the pump hose on to the standard fitting,

Neatest battery pump is the ryobi one tyre pump. It will pump up quite a few tyres on 1 battery charge. I stopped using those old foot pumps years ago.

I always use the service station`s air hose; the government inspectors check them regularly, and the same goes for petrol pumps.

What i like about using the same small electric pump is that it will always be consistent. I never use garage pumps. When the boys worked in tyre garages, the air pumps used to take a bashing when dropped and some became inaccurate until inspected again.

Another reason for not using garage pumps is tyre pressures are given cold, & of course if you've driven they will take a while to cool down.

Geoff, I read somewhere that cans of fresh mountain air are for sale on the WWW.
Hydrogen is available at some garages; it runs cooler and doesn`t need topping up as often as the molecules are supposedly larger, so they don`t leak through the rubber as easily as air.
Red valve caps are available to remind service people of what`s in the tyre.

Hydrogen is a bit flammable for me but in the UK, kwik-fit did start using nitrogen in tyres but that seems to have died out.
I have Toyota air in my tyres now and it stays in alright. I am dreading changing the air for polluted UK air so may need to go up on the Moors to get cleaner stuff.

I have tyre repair and pump and CO 2 canisters that comes with the Skoda spare wheel plus Co kit ..I use a proper calibrated pressure gauge as that's really accurate with a button to bleed the pressure
