Basterds

seven years ago we decided to buy a Kia Diesel due to good reputation nice 3 cylinder engine and great fuel economy and best thing was free road tax. Well thanks to this useless government that needs more money to feed all the illegal immigrants and waste money I now have to pay road tax. So bloody wrong when they just change the rules when they need to tax us even more.

nothing is free forever,they'l be taxing having a toilet break soon enough. Just waiting for the historic vehicle to be hit. Still, 'they' wanted a "Labour" govt and they got it.

they’ll always keep changing rules as it suits them. who ever they are.

The biggest taxation we've faced recently was the previous government's decision not to raise tax thresholds in line with inflation.

I suspect this governments next taxation disaster (after winter fuel) might be reducing cash ISA allowances this autumn.

If you reckon this lot are bad then you'd better not look too closely at the last lot. Who introduced VAT on those well-known luxuries - gas and electricity?

Hybrids used to be free tax but not now. If you pay more than 40k for any new car, you also have to pay an extra 560 pounds a year for the first 5 years of its life. Hence, i now buy cars at just under 40k. The Volvo was about 48k but then add another near 3k for road tax.
I had quite a few diesel cars with free tax including a 2 litre Vauxhall and a 1.4 Peugeot but thats all gone.
There is no point in an EV car at all as charging it costs a lot more than petrol unless you charge at home.

control of food supply =control of population.

we lost a lot of old vegetable seeds due to EU, not allowed to be sold unless approved, It was got around by setting up seed swap organisations. Surprised you haven't heard of those? helps to keep old varieties in existance.

It was a bit of a sarcastic question. We do have seed swapping groups in our area, and ones that maintain old heritage varieties that sprout true to their variety.

Yes, the globalists want us all to "eat ze bugs" while they revel in Champagne and Wagyu beef in Davos. What a slimy lot; they don't even try to hide their intentions any more.

Back in the 1980s when I ran a car accessory shop the EU department of stupid ideas and money grabbing they came up with the idea that only spares made by the original maker of the vehicle could be fitted to a car.
Thus, a headlamp bulb for a BMW could only be bought from BMW, even though such an item was standard across all makes. Same with tyres etc. Thus ensuring an increased VAT take, and would probably forced us peasant off the road.

Fortunately the idea was defeated.

While we were in the EU, once Vat had been applied to something it could not be removed & the lowest permissible level allowed was 5%.

Having left the EU we are now free to remove the Vat on domestic fuels, but neither the last lot nor the current lot have chosen to do so. Wonder why ?

A pox on all their houses - they are all as bad as each other. Though in the case of the current shower I think they set a new bar for the disconnect between the lies they spun before the election and the reality afterwards.

When we eventuually reach State Retirement age & start to get the State Pension, we will receive one WFP between us (if it is still available in couple of years time) as Mrs B. will be over current proposed income limit. But I am not holding my breath that such "perks" that I paid for through 45 years working will actually be available when I come to "officially" retire.

We're starting to run into the same thing here .... The problem with socialism is that eventually they run out of other people's money.

It's been a long run, but it's not sustainable.
