Wow I can see.

12.10am yesterday I had my right eye cataract replaced left was done in August. Today less than 24 hours later I have been out driving the car. Cannot believe my vision, it has to be the best in a very long time. Big thing I noticed is the colours that seem so bright. One very happy old rocker. Hope it's dry the weekend as I will be out on the bike.

The oldest rocker in town!

When I had my left eye operated on to repair the detached retina they also did my cateract same eye I passed my eyesight test for driving but not confident at the moment If I look at something circular the left side has a flat on it due to the damaged retina but OK reading numberplates

Glad to hear that. My eye doctor says that my eyes both need to be done soon, just say when.

Scary thought, although I know that they know what they are doing. It'll probably make a big difference that I haven't even noticed.

I can no longer use the post-and-aperture sights on my rifles; can't see through the little aperture, the front post, and the target all in one focus area.

Have to use open sights or a scope. It's probably affecting my riding and night vision, too.

Thanks for the encouraging news. Anyone needs to know about open-heart surgery and arterial grafts, I'm your man.

can't see through the little aperture, the front post, and the target all in one focus area.

Recently sold my air pistols because of this - reading glasses on I can see the sights but not the target, no reading glasses I can see the target but not the sights. Still Ok with the rifles, as these have telescopic sights.

MIL had both cataracts done in her 80s - really wound up about it beforehand, afterwards wondered why. One of the safest, lowest risk proceedures going, apparently.

Fortunately, the firing range on my weapon of choice means I can see the sights and the target, at 2-3 feet away. Deals with big spiders as well as flies.

Great news Jerry that all went well. Yes the instant improvement in vision is amazing. I had both eyes done seven years ago, can still read and drive without glasses.
Just use low magnification half lens glasses in the workshop.

My mother had her eyes done at the age of 92. First comment from her the following morning after we bought her home from hospital was "I see they have repainted the house across the road. It used to be a yucky grey but now it's brilliant white". No Mum it's been like that for ages. Certainly improved her quality of life.
