Paul Compton AKA Ev Guru

Saw the posting further down, thought it merrited a new thread.

Paul is known as the Technical Guru in the Morini Owners Club, and he does have some very good You Tube videos, not yet had the need to contact him re the Morini just yet, as the MRC message board has a lot of collective knowledge.

As you probably know Evguru used to be a regular poster on here.

On the subject of the Morini, I have sourced some replacement Exaust valves - the old ones being cracked, as well as a set of rings.

New valves are now ground in - I did find some pitting of the Ex valve seats on closer inspection and took a bit of effort to remove, but the seats / valves appear to be in spec.

Heads are now back together, just waiting on a piston ring grinding tool to arrive so I can properly grind the ends of the rings to get the correct piston ring end gap, as they are they are a little on the tight side.

One that is done full speed ahead with the rebuild.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Probably run it under light load, keep the revs down for a few hundred, going to ask the question on the Morini Riders Club forum.

Given that it is a high reving engine - Max power is at 8K it might need to be run in at higher revs.

For the Kawa 2 strokes recommendation is to run them in like you stole them !! always done that when I have re ringed them and not had any problems.

Think the trick is to make sure that the rings bed in and do nto glaze the bores.

I will have to find out.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Think the trick is to make sure that the rings bed in and do nto glaze the bores.

The idea is to bed in the rings before they become work-hardened, which they do if the engine isn't give enough welly while being run in.
Bedded-in rings and glazed bores are the desired situations for a long cylinder life with minimal oil burning.

Scratchin' my head a bit just how EV Guru fits into your Morini works, besides being a Morini guru.

I have met EV Guru a few times in the dim and distant and even had the honour of a tour of his huge shed behind his house.

As I understand it Paul and EV Guru are one and the same person.

Not sure I understand your point, but then again I am easily confused.
