I remember sidecar stunts with the passenger removing & replacing the chair wheel while the rider drove it round in circles. I think it was a regular feature of the White Helmets army team (and others who copied it).

I remember seeing a picture in the paper “Motor Cycle News” ? way back in the sixties? of a racer becoming airborne over a hump in a TT race with the front wheel dropping out. Who, I have no idea but I believe (think) the bike was a Norton.

Had it happen on a pushbike once, fortunatley at a very slow speed.

Many years ago, a real photo of an event like this appeared in a bike mag as a caption competition. My brother Steve won with " you picked a fine time to leave me front wheel"

Correction: It wasn't a Norton.....it was a Write Off

Tried to find out on the web if any record exists, apparently there is no record of anything like it happening at the TT. So it appears I got the venue wrong but I still remember the picture.
