Flag waving

Council going mad at hundreds of flags on lamp posts and bridge along one of Exetrrs main roads
I think its great but must be costing someone a lot of money

Most of the ones in the nearby city here are put up by a semi organised bunch called 'The Patriots' The main thing they patronise is 'Wetherspoons', although they also spend a lot of time in the local courts.

I went along there this Morning to check them all. They alternate on each pole for Union and English flag with a smaller one for the lower poles. They did remove them but magically, they reappeared in a few days so i think they may be left until they rot away now. Under 4 pound to buy the large size like the one on my flag pole at home but discounts if buying about 100 as there is on this road. Those poles are very high needing a triple ladder to reach up.
It looked great Today in the wind and that road leads to the massive Marsh Barton estate. The companies on the Estate are very happy with the new display.
Tree across the road at Nutwell at 7am and road closed for 30 minutes. I was behind a car that drove into the closed barriers and went through pushing the cones along but the tree men stopped him. I went through Woodbury.
Wave our flag, we might all have to fly a Palestine one soon. My own Union flag on the pole has been there many years and a remembrance day flag for November with poppies.

Still can't get my head around that I live in a country where it's frowned upon to put our flag up. My Grandad and Dad must be turning in there graves.

Its a different country now Jerry.

Seems you are not allowed to express an opinion these days without you being labelled as racist or devisive.

As for being patriotic - even if with the best of intentions and not as part as some pollitical / subservise group, it seems to be frowned on.

I expect that even this response will be considered by some as being racist.

Who needs a signature anyway......

It's still all right here to fly national and state flags.

Helps separate out the Americans from the America-hating "Progressives", who never express any sort of patriotism except to Mother Gaia, Muslims, and Africans.

As far as who's paying for them, I spend about $100 a month on flags for various locations ....

Not strictly true Jerry. "Frowned upon" is only in England, while flag-waving is positively encouraged in the rest of the British Isles.
Apparently it's our own fault as we all owned slaves 200 years ago, and now we must pay (in all senses of the word)

I have a flagpole in the garden and use it on social days and for Maz have an Australian flag that goes up on special days

Just returned from the half mile walk to the village pub. As usual, there were around a dozen Union flags flying, right way up. As there have been for the 20 years I've lived here.
No one has any issues with these, as is right.
The issue locally is in Worcester. Recently many Union flags hung up, most the wrong way up, by the local knuckle draggers.
In the local press there was a photo of someone, protesting, holding up a placard, 'keep our kids safe' outside a hotel alleged to have asylum seekers housed. Turned out he was a kiddy fiddler, just out of nick.
A local woman (white) was abused when she asked about a flag being put up on a lamppost outside her house.
