Excellent day out. brought an old mate Graham and Steve the boy and met up with Jerry ,the old Mod, and Andy.
Explaining the scalpel robbers to Graham, he showed me a 4 inch cut down the front of his heavy duty coat and the layers were very thick so they failed but did cut right through. His attempted robbery involved 3 men so we made damn sure our money was out of reach.
On the way back, Steve was chatting to graham about the old bikes he builds. That led to going to see his bikes and Steve then bought a 1966 BSA Spitfire with 13,000 miles on an ex USA bike. Just as it came from the factory and still with a fibreglass tank. The 350 Gold star in the garage was a but too cramped for the boy so left that one.
Graham builds show winning bikes just as a hobby to sell. It should run well when he picks the bike up.
Me, i bought nothing as i have enough parts and cans of chemicals already
I did see Jerry eying up a Lambretta for a few seconds. Go on Jerry, you know you want one.

Sorry that I missed you and Andy. It was heaving when I got there. But I did have a great chat with Jerry.
I will be taking your advice and packing sandwiches next time. The food was exorbitant. A “special”(tiny) cheeseburger was £10 at one van.

No probs David, probably bump into each other sooner ot later.

Only had a brief chat with Jerry - he was always talking to someone when I went past his stand.

I fell foul to an alleged "gourmet" cheeseburger, at £10. It was a complete rip off, but I was hungry.

Tiny little burger, a slice of plastic cheese, 2 tomato slices, 2 tiny pieces of bitter lettuce on a dry bun.

Think sarnies might be a sensible / cheaper alternative next time.

Next date for your calendar March 28th - the autojumble at Cheddar if that is your thing.

There was a nice "hog roast" at the last one selling filled buns for a sensible price !

Might go along just to see what junk is on sale.

Hopefully I’ll get to the March event on the bike and I must get there earlier. Arriving at 10.30 it was already packed, especially in the first hall.

The jumble is usually fairly busy, but plenty of parking.

Yes I did say to you it was odd how we bumped into Jerry next to a stand with Scooters on it

Some interesting stuff there, was amazed at how physically small an Ex Barry Sheen RGV 500 was, unlike it's price tag 100-120k that was on the Bonehams stand.

I bought a couple of items but only about a tenners worth. Think I spent more on my lunchtime burger.

I went home pretty early as still finding crowds / lots of people difficult to deal with following the recent loss of my other half.

I always have fresh sandwiches and 3 flasks of boiling water for tea at all the shows. having to wait in line to get fed and watered is not for me.
I leave it in the car so a cuppa on arrival then feast at 12.30.
Cheddar will have the robbers with scalpels. They found Grahams Goretex jacket a very easy material to cut through but trouser pockets are the favourite robbery. I no longer take more than 20 pounds inside the venue for a deposit then go out to the car for cash,

I used to do that show over 20 years ago had the Ariel on display and my mate had his Royal Enfield interceptor on display car parking on the grass took my own food ..but I'm not one for stairing at motorcycles I've seen them all before

Den, you will have to speak with a Romanian accent to do robbing. I did notice there were security staff at entrances to halls for the first time. I wonder if they are spotters of the gangs ? Most of the autojumbles and shows now have warnings about the robbing gangs in the crowd.
In the Caribbean, there are very few locals that would steal. Much safer place to be walking around with decent people. I did speak to one a few years ago who had a hand missing and a few machete cuts and he said that can be what you get for stealing from another resident but he was a really nice bloke that had been caught

Much safer to walk around in the Caribbean countries than Exeter or Plymouth now. Both those cities have too many drug gangs and murders.
